I think I am sending the 2 cockerels to stew camp. They are over mating the girls and are chasing them down to do so. Girls are losing too many back feathers as well. I think they caused one of my Easter Eggers to have a sprained leg. I looked out this evening and she was laying on her side...

Oh, I did a thing. Found a lady to incubate 16 eggs for me. All colored ones from my Marans, Olive eggers, Cream legbar, and light brown ones. The dads are BCMxBarred Rock. Wouldn't you know, yesterday one of my zombies went broody. If she is still broody tomorrow, I might let her have some...

I have 5 leghorns, just 2 years old, and yes, they laid through 2 fall/winters, and don't have full blown molts. Some seem to still have their original feathers. They are very skittish, and the large combs flop over their eye, and get pecked on by others. Being smaller birds, the food to egg...

3 broodies; 3 different parts of the yard.

I had a broody recently that kept stealing more eggs every single day and when I realized this, finally marked the original eggs after candling all of them.

Somehow after the bending forward and working with my arm in the hanging forward position, it didn't want to return back normally and felt stuck and was very painful. Still...

Not too bad. Just in my hand and finger. The shoulder, however, needs surgery.

I have a torn rotator cuff, most likely surgery sometime. I was told to use left arm carefully. Not sure what I'll plant. Maybe just do dahlias and potatoes and the onion plants I've started.

Sidelined for now. Had a ganglion cyst removed testerday, and now waiting in urgent care for checking shoulder pain on the left from gardening too hard on Sunday. At least the beds are weeded and raspberries transplanted.

Quite a long time. My fridge pickle chips last for a couple years. As long as they taste good. I threw out some canned pickled asparagus that became mushy and did not taste good.

I had rats and mice tunneling to get in my coop, until I got treadle feeders. No more rats coming in.
