Thank you! It has filled out so much since last year. Sometimes I just stare at it....actually a lot of times I stare at it. 😄

6 week runners with the rest of the flock?

I wouldn't throw in birds from another farm without quarantining first.

    Your flower gardens!

This is what I call my "Shop Garden" (because it's next to my woodworking shop.. :p), and it's probably my best flower garden yet. The creeping phlox is just starting to fade now but other flowers are coming!! There's creeping phlox, garden phlox, hostas, perennial geraniums, irises, speedwell...

    Your flower gardens!

I wasn't able to find a garden thread dedicated to flower gardens, so I'm making one! Show off your flower and ornamental gardens! Outdoor gardens only - there's another thread for house plants. Looking forward to seeing photos of your beautiful gardens!! And feel free to discuss anything...

    Any artists out there?

Thank you! I do sell my art (my watermark is my business name if you want to Google it). For the very reasons @SarahLadd mentioned above, I keep it a hobby business on the side.

Ideas for a muddy duck pen

They could definitely use more space. My ducks only really make a mess around their pool. The rest of their large pen stays green. A duck pool deck can also be made for a kiddie pool like you have. I built mine out of a pallet and installed a kitchen sink drain in the pool which can be...

One of my hens is laying thin-shelled eggs but I don't know who

Thanks. I don't have a sheltered place outside the door, but I was looking at the oyster shell and grit feeder I have inside on the wall and noticed it's very dark in that corner. I think I should try to move it to a place that gets more natural light and see if that helps.

Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

Aww, that's cute - Bunny and Ladybug. ❤️ Has Bunny changed color over the years? When Ladybug was a pullet she was more white with a gray beard and now, at 7 years old, she has a lot more brown in her plumage. She's also VERY talkative!

PLEASE TRY THIS FEED!! My 11 hens have laid over 100 eggs so far this year. Poll: what brand of feed do you get?

I recently switched my hens to Kalmbach layer and since then several of them have come down with one type of ailment or another. First time in 15 years dealing with sour crop and frequent thin-shelled eggs. I can't prove it's the feed, but I'll probably be switching back to DuMOR after I run out.

Does my hoop coop need a frame?

Just realized I linked to the wrong size cable clamps. I believe these are the ones I used: https://www.amazon.com/Swpeet-Stainless-Assortment-Cushioned-Installation/dp/B07XG36YWD/

Does my hoop coop need a frame?

Here's another photo of the hoop house in progress. It's far from perfect but it does the job.

Does my hoop coop need a frame?

They are attached with stainless steel cable clamps (like these: https://www.amazon.com/Swpeet-Stainless-Assortment-Cushioned-Installation/dp/B07XG36YWD/ ). And, yes, the hoops are elevated a few feet. I chose to set mine on top of the ground since I didn't have the ability to dig down past...
