My best luck with protecting my birds was raising a goose with my flock. Usually it would scare away any predator because of the attention it would bring but when it didn't I could get outside and take care of the threat on my own because of the goose noise.
I'm trying to figure out how tall I need my fence for ducks and my goose. There isn't many predators around, and less that can be harmful to the adult birds. Just trying to figure out how tall it needs to be to contain my girls.
the goose is only about three days younger than the ducks. I did move them into the chicken tractor because I do have it split into two areas for different breeds or types of fowl.
I got a gosling yesterday to brood with my ducklings, but I had to segregate the brooder because my four 2-week old ducklings a keep beating up on him/her. Any suggestions on how i can easily integrate him/her so I can eventually add him to the flock?
We had to help him out of the shell because the membrane was starting to shrink wrap on him. He's able to eat and drink, and I'm unsure if he's even pooped yet, because I've kept him in the incubator because he has trouble walking.
One of my rouen/pekin cross ducklings has something on his vent and has had it since he was in the egg. I'm not sure if it's just a bad case of pasty butt or if it's something else
I'm thinking a fox, you should probably think of locking up your birds at night to give them a little more protection. And think of getting a goose, they'll scare plenty of animals off.
