However, I’m so relieved to say that 13 is alive! I candled, saw internal pip, then carefully opened a small hole. Luckily it was right near the beak, she started peeping quietly at me, I made a small hole for her to get some fresh air. She is still “chomping” which indicates she’s working on...
Oh and 15 is on their way! Pipped nicely and I can see their beak chomping so I’m assuming just absorbing up the rest of that yolk and will be out in no time
Good morning! Woke up to lots of fluffy butts! Now I get to try and figure out who is who!
13 and 1 are not pipped yet so I actually think I’m going to at least make a safety hole. I’d rather assist if needed and make sure now than wait too long because I always end up waiting too long! 13 was...
Brownie hatched! @TwoCrows
I couldn’t get a photo but I will in the morning. She is black with a touch of yellow under her beak, and a single comb! She is an Ancona cross. I’m interested to see if the other two from my Ancona will have single or rose combs! Last time they were all rose.
3 and 7 popped out!
3, Babka @servant_of_fluffs
I’m almost certain this is a cross with my red partridge rock. So cute!
And 7, Monkey Bread! @SunriseChickers Ended up with a single comb, so interesting! So far in all my hatches, all my chicks end up with rose combs (like dad), except for...
I think so too, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t ignoring something more serious! I’m glad there are only two of them out right now because my biggest concern is that it would become a pecking target!
3rd chick to hatch so far, peeping loudly and trying to move. But I noticed its navel is quite pronounced and it is leaving a small trail of blood when it moves around. It doesn’t seem to be actively bleeding? It just drags a little as the baby is trying to move about.
Will this absorb with...
I put them all in pretty late in the evening on Saturday when I loaded the incubator. No babies out this morning but way more pips!
3 Babka, 6 Panettone, 7 Monkey, 10 Cinnabun, 12 Eclair, 16 Baguette (just want to share this cracks me up even more because this egg is the narrowest and longest...
@PopoMyers 12, Eclair, has pipped! I think on the wrong end but I had a feeling there was a possibility of that, as both ends of that egg are quite blunt and large. I’ll just monitor and see how she does on her own. Probably won’t be out until tomorrow but there is some chirping going on in there!
Very soon! We have our first pip already on egg #6!!! :wee
Panettone @SunriseChickers maybe she will hatch early!
And 10 was wiggling at me when I went to go talk to them this afternoon after work! @chickengirls16 little Cinnabun is rocking away in there!
