Ok. So does this mean the parent wasn’t pure? Or is the barring because of the Spitzhauben? (Just want to learn :p)

Spitzhauben are not barred. Can you post pics of parents?

Yup! Gimme a minute.

Possible "moms"
I Am Mostly sure it's a WJG, because the egg was kinda big, and brown.

I can't really comment on birds with unknown origins. To be honest that white bird is hiding all soft of things.

That’s ok, but thank you!

Sorry for asking much, but do you think this chick will be barred?

Hello @nicalandia :frow Hope you're doing good.

I have a question that may seem rather silly :p

I know it's kind of hard to see, but how come this chick has brown on it? (It's more prominent towards the end of its wing feathers). Parents are the same, WJG (hen) and Spitzhauben (rooster)

Thanks for reading 😊

It's the combined effect of Columbian restrictors found on Spitzhauben and Heterozygous Extended Black.

The-White-Elephant
Ooooh..... What are restrictors?
nicalandia
nicalandia
On Spangled Spitzhauben it's Db(Dark Brown columbian restrictor) it restricts black feathers to the tip of the feather(but with the Pattern Gene and Melanotic it becomes splangled)

Ooh, I understand now. Thanks :D

Quick question, can a Spitzhauben X Cochin produce a chick with NO feathered feet?
nicalandia
nicalandia
No, as Feathered Feet is dominant. So the F1 chicks should have intermediate feathering

Interesting. I hatched an egg, and it can't be the WJG's, or the EE's, or the OE's. That leaves the Cochins... I'm stumped :p :hmm

I have another question… I hope I’m not bothering you too much

But…. Could a Spitzhauben X WJG profuce a partridge chick?

-Thanks!
nicalandia
nicalandia
Technically No. But your hen appears to be a WJG cross or something
