I have a question that may seem rather silly

I know it's kind of hard to see, but how come this chick has brown on it? (It's more prominent towards the end of its wing feathers). Parents are the same, WJG (hen) and Spitzhauben (rooster)

It's the combined effect of Columbian restrictors found on Spitzhauben and Heterozygous Extended Black.

Ooooh..... What are restrictors?

On Spangled Spitzhauben it's Db(Dark Brown columbian restrictor) it restricts black feathers to the tip of the feather(but with the Pattern Gene and Melanotic it becomes splangled)

Quick question, can a Spitzhauben X Cochin produce a chick with NO feathered feet?

No, as Feathered Feet is dominant. So the F1 chicks should have intermediate feathering

Interesting. I hatched an egg, and it can't be the WJG's, or the EE's, or the OE's. That leaves the Cochins... I'm stumped
