Hy-Line International is a world leader in poultry layer genetics with a rich history of innovation. Founded in 1936, by Henry A. Wallace, Hy-Line was the first poultry breeding company to apply the principles of hybridization to commercial layer breeding.

Today, it is not only the world's oldest layer genetics company but the industry leader in all facets. Its progressing research program guarantees increased egg production, greater disease resistance, improved egg quality, and superior livability.

Hy-Line W-36, W-80, W-80 plus, and W-80 pro lay pearl white eggs. They are strains of white leghorns designed for different utility purposes. They are the world's most efficient white leghorns and the world's most prolific layers. Hy-Line leghorns have smaller bodies and smaller combs than leghorns of other companies.

Hy-Line Brown, Hy-Line Brown Max, and Hy-Line Silver Brown produce both brown shells. Hy-Line Brown Max lays the darkest and biggest eggs among all the Hy-Line varieties.

Hy-Line Sonia and Hy-Line Pink are both layers of tinted and cream eggs. Each of them is designed for different utility purposes. They consist of 50% of white leghorns coming from the company's high-octane parent stocks. Hy-Line Pink's shells are a bit darker than those of the Hy-Line Sonia. Hy-Line Sonia has the highest livability among all the Hy-Line varieties.

In conclusion, I will clearly say that layers of other companies can't hold a candle next to the layers of the hy-line company when it comes to feed-to-egg conversion.

Rest in peace, Henry Wallace. Thank you for everything.

Very close to 360, so almost one egg per hen per day all year long!

Most of my flock are Hy-Line Browns. Here and there one of them will have a break from laying for a day, but only very occasionally.
I know, my friend, and imagine that hy-line white leghorns overlay the browns and eat less than them. The mediterranean climate we have in Greece makes the whites the best choice by far.

That is if you are an egg producer. Personally I keep chickens as a hobby, it's just a bonus that they lay eggs so often.
I call them my "functional semi-independent pets".
