Is my chicken a hen or a rooster?

Hmn. That is quite a conundrum. Judging by the comb color is hard, since it is fifteen weeks... I would observe. Those saddle feathers say boy, but I am just not sure. My rooster Elrond sits just like that, though, haha! I would watch for a crow at this point. 🤷

    Pullet or Cockerel?

I would say it is a boy, as for the sweetness, I would keep hanging out and cuddling with him, but keep your fingers crossed. Roosters can be a mixed bag.

I could be wrong, but I think the three photographs are of the same bird.

    Question

I would count that as a good sign! At this point, I would observe. Do you have any space in which you could separate him from your flock?

Looks like a pullet to me! Though I would second the "looks younger than twelve weeks."

    Question

Is there any way you could post a photo? What breed (or even size) is he? And how old is he? Don't worry, we'll get him through this!

How do you decide what rooster to keep?

When I have to choose one, I choose one that dances for the ladies! Dancing is an under-bred trait, but I try to breed for it, as it makes for a much more peaceful flock, with the original rooster and his sons.

    Does Anybody Know...

Huh. If that were so, wouldn't you think it would be caused by any food being prepared? I cook very, very frequently, and I rarely use the microwave anymore. Whatever it is, the microwave is staying in the garage.

    Does Anybody Know...

Thank you guys! That's what I've always heard about microwaves, but whenever I am around any microwave that is cooking I get really bad stomach pain. But only while it is cooking. Maybe I am just hypersensitive?

    Does Anybody Know...

Does anybody know if chicks can be raised in proximity to a microwave? I have my microwave in the garage because of the tiny amount of radiation (and, yes, I can tell a difference from when I had it in the house.), but I also plan to have chicks in my garage in about a week. Has anyone had any...

Well, silly me. I candles again using a smaller flashlight, and as it turned out, the air cell is right side up after all - I just couldn't see it because my flashlight was too big. I feel like such a goober! The reason I thought the air cell was on the bottom was because the shell is thinner at...
