Apparently, there are breeder's that are breeding their Maine Coons to have more dramatic features, emphasizing the breed's large ears, bushy tails, and strong muzzles.
They are calling these European Maine Coons.

They are all going to be out of sorts for some time. The change in their living status does not help of course.
This is all about safety. Them being out of sorts does not matter as long as they are safe.

Stress will make mycoplasma outbreaks occur. I think what your doing is quite wise. Mine have 2 chips too chose from right now as well. I do this every time. So far they have chosen to live together. It is not required.
