I made yogurt, did a load of laundry (still didn't make it rain), and picked some more black raspberries.
Got a good haul on my JB bug hunt today. The chickens crunched the dang blighters right down.
Did you get the seeds from Baker Creek? Last year a lot of people had problems with their seeds not sprouting. And it was a lot of different types of seeds.
They used to be one of my standard places to order from. Last year, I had VERY poor germination on something -- chard, I think. I didn't...
A friend of ours has a very hefty dog named Chloe. Our dog Freya thinks it is her goal to look like Chloe.
No, baby... No. Chloe is quite overweight. You're a good, healthy weight and we want to keep it that way.
Here's my experience with bulbing onions (what my husband calls "regular onions"):
I always miss a couple when I dig them up. I find them sprouting the next year. If I dig them, they are invariably small, about the size of an onion set, which means they didn't grow much the season before. They...
I made yogurt today. That was my "kitchen" project. Oh, and cleaning up the kitchen.
I have 2 quarts of whey from draining the yogurt. I think I'll use some of it to cook the rice tomorrow.
I think I'll do this. I save seed for the next year. Most of my tomatoes are for canning, and bigger tomatoes make the job go faster.

I would love a reason to eat more eggs. They're right on the counter, quick and easy to cook, go with a lot of stuff from the...
Re: making the jam. I smashed the berries in a big bowl with a potato masher, and then put them through my food mill. It removed a lot of seeds, but a lot of seeds were in the jam too.
I had a thought today: I have a juicer! I could use that to make juice for jelly. I really prefer jam to...
@NanaK, those all sound good! I have one more to add: mix it into yogurt!
I just made yogurt today, and though I sweeten it with honey, sometimes it just ... needs something.
I picked some more berries today, and there are plenty more coming. I would like to figure this out so that I can make...
This and simple alterations would be helpful to make clothes last longer. Clothes are expensive, and making them last longer, or being able to alter them to fit someone better would be very useful.
Hand sewing and machine sewing are lifelong skills.
Those look... scary....! I'd be afraid to pick tomatoes. Like the plant would grab onto me and pull me in. Did you ever wonder why they call those stems that we prune off suckers?
Otherwise, they'd get lost in there!
I have had this happen too. It made some MONSTER tomatoes!
Well... it still didn't set up. No, I did not use low sugar pectin. I'll get some at the store next time I go. There are still a couple of pickings of berries out there, at least.
It's going to get eaten, gladly, because it's tasty. I'll just have to spread it on the toast first, before the...
I picked more black raspberries.
I made black raspberry jam.
I brewed another batch of tea for kombucha. I am going to transition my tea over to honey to replace sugar, so I started that process.
