Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Sad news... Lost one of my favourite does and two of her kits to the heat. Six kits survived (managed to cool them off enough), and they are 5 weeks old today so hopefully they will do okay without their mom.

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

It's been restored now. That storm was wild. Sheet lightning like strobe lights constantly and heavy downpours for well over an hour. Windy enough to have blown off the roof from one of my new rabbit cages. Poor bunnies got an unwanted shower. No other damage that I could see though. All...

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Of COURSE we had a massive storm (the likes of which I have never seen!) and the power goes out! It's not fair!!! No idea when power will be restored either.

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

I didn't want to say anything until it was actually done, but... POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED!!! The owner/landlord had it put in their name. It's wonderful to be on the computer without the loud drone of the generator in the background! Actually, it's weird. I will be devouring the internet...

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Oh, forgot about that. One saving grace in my situation is an old-fashioned hand pump. It's a pain filling the buckets to water the animals, but better than having to purchase those big bottles.

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Use a bucket of water to flush it.

One thing I like about mine. Remote start!

Sorry, didn't mean to sound rude. I'm just so frustrated by all this.

Got $15,000? That's what it's going to take. I have NO idea how my daughter used so much electricity!

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Things to do when you have no electricity: Pick wild strawberries. Build rabbit cages. Read a lot. Try not to go crazy.

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

In a foul mood today. No, TwoCrows, not *fowl*. Not having any power is getting to me. Found a home for my trio of cochin banties. Friend who is watching my chicks will take them. Probably getting out of the quail. Their protein needs are too high, especially since the feed supplier...

Oldest buns are escaping the nestbox!

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Nothing here yet. I think it must just be mixing into the Toronto smog! :lau

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Update: still without power, don't know when it will be restored. 33 bunnies were born in the last couple of weeks, found one dead in the nest, I think it might have accidentally gotten crushed. Lost two young pullets to what I'm 99% sure was coccidia, considering how much rain we've had...

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Oh, I know! I can do without most modern things, honestly. Heck, I have no running water in the trailer. But certain things *are* nice to have.

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Well, I wouldn't call it *smoothly* but I'm adapting.

Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Trying to keep myself busy in between the short runs of the generator, when I do necessary things (like cook and watch youtube!), since I don't access the internet on my phone. When the gen is going, it powers up the modem and router. Today's project is building a rabbit hutch. It's been an...

Oh, and it's easier right now for me to do texts. Send me a PM if you want my number.

Got some sleep, finally. This would be a great opportunity to get some work done outside if it weren't fot the bugs!!!
