Sad news...
Lost one of my favourite does and two of her kits to the heat. Six kits survived (managed to cool them off enough), and they are 5 weeks old today so hopefully they will do okay without their mom.
It's been restored now.
That storm was wild. Sheet lightning like strobe lights constantly and heavy downpours for well over an hour. Windy enough to have blown off the roof from one of my new rabbit cages. Poor bunnies got an unwanted shower.
No other damage that I could see though. All...
Of COURSE we had a massive storm (the likes of which I have never seen!) and the power goes out!
It's not fair!!! No idea when power will be restored either.
I didn't want to say anything until it was actually done, but...
POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED!!!
The owner/landlord had it put in their name. It's wonderful to be on the computer without the loud drone of the generator in the background! Actually, it's weird.
I will be devouring the internet...
Oh, forgot about that.
One saving grace in my situation is an old-fashioned hand pump.
It's a pain filling the buckets to water the animals, but better than having to purchase those big bottles.
In a foul mood today. No, TwoCrows, not *fowl*.
Not having any power is getting to me.
Found a home for my trio of cochin banties. Friend who is watching my chicks will take them.
Probably getting out of the quail. Their protein needs are too high, especially since the feed supplier...
Update: still without power, don't know when it will be restored.
33 bunnies were born in the last couple of weeks, found one dead in the nest, I think it might have accidentally gotten crushed.
Lost two young pullets to what I'm 99% sure was coccidia, considering how much rain we've had...
Trying to keep myself busy in between the short runs of the generator, when I do necessary things (like cook and watch youtube!), since I don't access the internet on my phone. When the gen is going, it powers up the modem and router.
