    Helpful hints for building coops

I found a penny sized tomato while I was watering today. We had about 4 minutes of rain. The 60-70% chances are drying up to 20-30%, and it looks like it's going north or south of us. I get all whiny about it, and then see on the evening news about people dying in flood waters. I got nothing to...

My tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and butternut squash are still all in the green house. Tonight "should" be the last night of possible upper 30s. (They advertised 38/39 the last two nights, but we stayed about 40. I'm not complaining.) I really want to get these plants in the garden!

The storms that blew through here a couple nights ago left us with an inch of rain and minor erosion on our driveway. Many, many others were not so fortunate. We're going to have cooler than average temps the next week or so. That's fine with me, as long as we don't get frost. Plants are too...

Well, they aren't very good at showing my set up. I was taking pictures of the chicks. Fence to the left. I had the door open and the chicks came out to play on Momma jungle gym. This shows the sectioned off area of the run. I didn't have a broody hen, so the chicks are on their own. They...

    Helpful hints for building coops

This is a sectioned off area of the coop. It's used for letting broody hens hatch eggs and raise chicks. It keeps other chickens from bothering her or the chicks, but she is still within their sight, and therefore still part of the flock. When used as a chicken "jail," it is to separate a...
