Good Morning everyone! The 2nd half of the month has been more dismal weather wise than the first half. Cool rainy and windy today with a high of 50. Tomorrow looks dry and bright and warmer but then it crashes again on Sunday. The lettuce and spinach love this weather but not much else. Have a...
Good Morning Everyone, We saw a freeze warning last night as well but highs will get near 60 later on. I'm debating on whether or not to leave my frost cloth over top of the crops in the garden or not for the next few days. It appears we may have another frost warning for Monday or Tuesday night...
It seems like many people are having rough swings in weather! It dipped into the high 30's last night but we've seen scattered snow showers a few times today.
Well, the weather has been as advertised today. Started decently warm and then a line of thunderstorms w/ hail passed through. Now it is much colder and windier than the 1st half of the day.
Crops like lettuce spinach and peas I try to stagger so some is maturing at x days and then more 7-10 later etc. otherwise you get too much and it don't hold on the shelf that long. Corn is particularly difficult given the pollination aspect.
Based on the research I've done, I was considering either low nitrogen or sun burn. I'll try the coffee grounds idea as I have some I haven't tossed into the compost bin yet. Thanks for the advice.
I'm going off some advice another person told me relating to sun burn and to cut the affected...
Anyone have insight to what’s up with some of my broccoli starts? These have been transplanted about 2 weeks or so ago and leaves are turning? Not sure if it’s nitrogen deficiency or a fungal thing??
Good afternoon everyone, Very cloudy here so far today with off and on drizzle. I'm going to attempt to flower bed work when I get done work at 2 today! Hopefully the weather holds. Sunday is supposed to be much nicer. Enjoy your day.
Good evening all. It has been very windy all day today but it was sunny and nice if you could take the wind. I was able to plant some lettuce and spinach plants that had been started and hardened off today. Finally got my tomatoes and pepper seeds planted as well. The mini greenhouse is fairly...
Good morning everyone, Yesterday turned into a pretty decent day despite the weather. It was cooler, damp and still soggy from the rain on Saturday. Started the morning with transplanting some seedlings, and then thought to myself, I really need to get my outside greenhouse put together. (Soft...
Good morning all, I managed to let the dogs out at 6:30 this morning and it was dry but by 715 the rain has begun. Looks to be damp a good part of the day today and I don't think we get past 50 today.. It will be a nice day for planting more seeds indoors and some other indoor house chores.
So much for the rain they called for. It is an awesome day outside. Almost to 68 with just a few clouds around. Just wish I wasn't stuck inside for another 1.5 hours!!
I'm hoping to have my remaining warm season veggie seeds started tomorrow evening or Saturday afternoon. I power washed part of the house after dinner and did an oil change on my wife's equinox tonight before we walked the dogs. Too bad they want more rain tomorrow.. I'm looking forward to nice...
Raw and wet here today with a lot more rain than I was anticipating. Hopefully this will help green up the grass and help the flowers! Today seems to be the coldest of the next 7 days with nightime temps remaining between 39-42 so that's a plus for sure!
PA shut down non essential business and enforcement begins tomorrow. The past week, I have been to Aldi twice for a few things here and there. I've been surprised both times including this morning. Other than a limited amount of paper supplies, the store was near full and it was hard to tell we...
