Also post some pictures when you have a minute.
Sometimes what looks like angel wing in the beginning Ends up just being their wing feathers growing in and they end up being perfectly fine.
Well if they are eating that stuff instead of their feed it's basically the same as.
I'm not an expert in the department of angel wing by any means.. but I've had a couple with it. And I can say that I thing genetics play a huge Role.
I had one Cayuga with angel wing and one of her ducklings...
18% shouldn't cause angel wing. I start my ducks on meatbird and it's 22% honestly I would not cut the feed with oats if I were you. If they do actually eat it you are also cutting down on all the other nutrients they need from the feed.
When you read articles about ducks getting Angel wing at...
What are you feeding them currently?
The whole high protein thing is pretty highly debatable imo.
I lean more towards believing that it's more a genetic factor,
Or improper nutrition.
What you are seeing there is pretty normal as they start growing their flight feathers in, they are heavy at first and sometimes are heavy and will just droop down like that. After they grow out they are able to hold them up where they belong.
With true angel wing the wing tip is kind of bent...
Looks fixable to me. It could take 4-5 days to correct...but
I would personally only leave the wrap on for 24-48 hours at a time.
usually you'll need to take it off and rewrap due to them getting it loose and filthy. when you get ready to change it, let it air out for a bit, give the duck a...
That is one way to do it and I believe it would work if...
The fit was perfect.
I tried this with my call duck and stockings and it was just a disaster. Too loose and she could get it right off. Tightened it up and she was in obvious distress not being able to breathe well.
When I finally got...
I just realised I never came back here to update!
After her flights grew back in a bit longer and heavier they started to lay back down where they belonged.
I did go ahead and use this wrapping method on The side that was not fully corrected originally and it worked!!
Her flights do not...
I wouldn't think less swimming would be the cause of it. . but :idunno
I had to keep mine away from water since it was wrapped on both sides with a stocking over it. But I would still worry it might drown even if it was just one wing. . . but I worry like that :gig
Speaking of Angel wing. . the one I had fixed partially last summer finally lost her flight feathers in molt. One side I had corrected almost perfectly is now sticking out as again as if I never done anything. :barnie
The other side I give up on and it was only slightly out of place. . ya. Both...
Dang it! :barnie
And here I am watching every day for mine to lose those flight feathers.
Did it improve at all tho? Mine is very slight. Wonder if it's still worth a shot. :hmm
