Wow, he is beautiful! And he is a "Blue" laced red. The black laced are black with no hint of blue.
Here is one of my black laced red rooster chicks for comparison~ He is still at that gawky, sort of unattractive stage right now
They don't always show blood in the stool when they have Cocci and there are different forms of it. Her body is probably trying to build resistance to it but because she may be vitamin deficient (medicated feed blocks their bodies from absorbing vitamin B1- thiamine and that is why I don't use...
I would treat them all to be on the safe side I would also add some GQF vitamins plus powder (the feed store should have it) to their water to help give them a boost. I also give my chickens Quaker Old Fashioned oats as a treat in the morning because they are high in the B vitamins which makes...
Sounds like she might have Coccidiosis. I would research the disease. It is treated with Corid. You will need to find out what the dosage is for poultry. Sorry I do not know what it is since I have not had to treat for it.
Hope this helps!
Does she look like this? This is a picture of a...
Thank you everyone for the nice words about my rooster I have been getting some great color and clarity of lacing with the Greg Catt x Foley lines. It looks like he is passing on some good color and type to his offspring.
Just for fun pictures. This rooster took over these 5 week old chicks when mom got tired of them The rooster is from Catt x Paul lines and 4 of the chicks are his offspring and the other two are from eggs I hatched for a new rooster/new bloodlines.
I think the chick in the pictures was around 4 days old in the first picture, 2 weeks old in the second picture and 3 and a half weeks old in the third picture.
Hi, this is the first time I have hatched black laced red chicks. My slash rooster was throwing all blues even when bred to other blues, but now I am using his blue son and between my 4 chicks and 2 that I hatched from shipped eggs, all but 2 are the black laced reds. Here is an example of the...
You are right about waiting a couple of weeks to be sure. In my lines the pullets have thin combs and don't have wattles showing at such a young age, but other lines might.

Mind if I ask why you don't ship?
Right now I only have a few available to sell and I know they will sell right away at the first show I take them to so I just decided it wasn't worth the extra hassle of shipping. I plan to hatch a lot more this year though so will most likely start...

What lines is he from? My splash rooster started out with yellow legs and they turned pink as he matured. He is from the Greg Catt line and bred to my Foley, Blue Poultry and Paul's Poultry line hens he produces yellow legs in his offspring I would do a few test hatches and see what he...
I have found that my splash rooster over my two black laced hens produce medium blue hens but darker blue roosters than I like to see. Now with splash over blue hens I am getting the proper medium blue roosters Genetics are a funny thing!

I don't believe milk will provide enough calcium for nice hard shells (someone correct me if I'm wrong.) It is best to provide oyster shell free choice Most of my Wyandottes lay a medium sized egg. Now that some of them are over 18 months old, some of the eggs are getting larger though.
