Sorry to reply so late, I was sick :(
Yep, a single hole. I kind of eyeball how high up I want it based on the gosling size. I'd say for day olds I probably do it two or three inches from the bottom.
Vitamin content - goslings grow so fast, they need a ton of niacin to support proper leg growth. Without added niacin, they are extremely prone to leg issues. An All Flock or the Meatbird would work for both the chicks and the goslings - I feed all mine the Meatbird and they all do really well...
I don't brood with chicks, just because even if you do use a homemade gosling waterer, they still get the brooder a bit wet, and chicks don't handle that well. Plus, they grow so fast, they could accidentally hurt a much smaller chick just by stepping on it accidentally.
I personally use either...
I raise Tufted Roman geese :) I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.
My first piece of advice would be to make a special waterer for them, so they don't soak the brooder, lol. You might already do that with your muscovies.
I do feel like I see a lot more rude members on this site now than in the past :(
I've also seen a lot of people reacting negatively to being corrected too, even if you're doing it in a nice way and not being rude. Some members also don't take it well if you post an opinion in a thread that's...
Ah, I was thinking of a different member, who often seems to chime in rudely in threads. Their name has a breed of chicken in it, maybe you know who I mean. Seems there are too many of them around lately.
I don't disagree :) I think it would be put to good use saving modern species that are on their way out due to human interference though, like, well, African elephants, for example, which are in danger of becoming extinct in the next ten years if poaching continues at the same rate it is now...
This would be very cool to use to bring back species driven into extinction by man, like dodos and thylacines, that never 'should' have gone extinct except that we as humans overhunted them or destroyed their habitat and drove them into extinction.
But species that 'naturally' went extinct, we...
I'm patiently waiting for mine to start. Probably not until the days are a bit longer, though. And I wouldn't mind if they waited until we were consistently staying above freezing during the day. Frozen eggs are something I do not need.
I almost never wear makeup either. Sometimes I'll toss on some eye liner real quick, but that's the most I ever do, really. Just not worth the time, effort, and money to me.
Tell him to make sure his name is on the paperwork at the vet's office, and not hers. If he's listed as the owner at the vet, then it's his dog, and there's nothing she can do about it, even if she tries to sue him.
Yep, I know how that goes! I've been trying to paint my emu barn for a month. It's either raining or way too hot. I live up here and deal with the cold and snow, I shouldn't also have to deal with it being 95 and humid, darn it.
She's been her usual outgoing self :P I heard her hiss for the first time a couple weeks ago when she was excited and running around. Haven't heard Desi do that yet. She's calmed down about the chickens somewhat and doesn't chase them as much, so that's good.
Oh, I tried to feed them bananas...
