I do a pumpkin spice soap that has cinnamon, clove, cassia and benzion eo's with purreed pumpkins. It does well in the fall. Do not use more than .25oz ppo for these eo's though.
If you want your soaps to cure faster, use a water discount. But only of fo's that don't move fast.
There is a whipped soap you can make that will float. Without more info about your grandma's soap I don't know what else it could be if it weren't whipped.
As far as scent, where are you getting your scents and how much are you using?
I always scent the base batch and don't count on the shaving to add much scent. I am not a big fan of contetti on top, it always breaks on me. I like to use itmixed with your base soap, just know that if you use a lot of confetti it will change your bar size.
Some how I just new who it was, lol. Did you get your money back?
I have heard mixed reviews on the Do Right molds. But that was 2 years ago when I was looking so I don't have any current info.
I had to get some new shipping boxes so I will get your fo shipped in the morning
Was it a TOG mold?
Hope the Do Right molds hold up for you. I LOVE my silicone molds. No lining and they come out smooth as glass!
I am making a big batch of lotion bars that I seperate and scent. I need to make some more lip balms too. Got a big show this weekend so I restocking the...
I like Essential oil university. It is $34 a lb I think for Lavender? I bought 10lbs last fall so I haven't reordered lately.
You can mix the lavender with something if you have it. Rosemary, Mint, Orange, Patchouli, are all nice blended. 1 oz of lavender eo isn't enough for the batch...
DS, that recipe makes 4 pounds of soap. I always measure my eo or fo's in oz so not sure if the tsp are enough or too much. What eo's are you going to use? I use anywhere from .25 oz per pound of oil to .7 oz ppo with eo's.
Hmm, I'm not familar with that brand of eo. You got it at the health food store? I order mine online. I like Essential oil university or Antolian Treasures best.
Ah, the fruity oaty is one I reccomend for Dry skin, so it maybe too moisturizing for you. If you make soap for yourself and you have oily skin, kaolin clay, charcole or dead sea mud are good for oily skin. Pink clay is more gentle but still good for drawing out the oil. I find the citrus...
Hmmm. Do you have oily skin usually? I do formulate for dry skin so it could be more moisturing than you need. Maybe try washing twice to remove more oil.
I use lavender eo only (the fo give me headache no matter the supplier) and I have a bar in my personal stash from last year that still has a scent. I use it at .7 oz ppo.
Where did you get your eo? Could it not be pure?
I have never had any scent from the buds, but you could try it too.
