Just break the neck, quick. When I have to cull a full size bird, I take them to a stump I have, hold them so their neck is over the stump and smack the neck fast and hard with the backside of an axe. Smaller birds, just grab the head, hold the body and yank.
Yard is all cleaned. I called the guy for a reinspect. Haven't heard back. In the meantime, it's rained a lot the last 2 days. I'll probably have to do it all over again this weekend.
Hi!!
Never do business with a friend and his brother on a handshake and his word. I was forced out of the bar and am currently unemployed. It's a bummer of a story and best told over some homebrew. You're welcome to come by mi casa anytime.
Yard and alley are clean.
I have given eggs to neighbors in the past. I don't have much to give right now. 3 hens, ones hasn't laid in months and I'm getting 3 every 2 days out of the other two. Freeloaders.
He didn't come here because of the coop, he was just filling me in on it. If it gets to be an issue, I'm not...
Hmmm. My luck he would be Elliot Ness. Front yard is clean. Tomorrow I tackle the back.
Funny thing is, our yard is reasonably clean. There are plenty others in worse shape, especially in the alley. He told us our alley has to be cleaned up also.
I am finding some things that say 50' from neighbors dwelling and 50' from property lines. If thats correct then, in most cases, chickens are not allowed in the city at all. Not a lot of homes in the city have enough yard to keep a coop 50' from any property line.
What this is leading me to...
No roosters at all.
I am 50' from neighbors dwelling. This guy told me 50' from any property line. I'm searching for the code now but the city website sucks. I can't find it. I did find it on American Legal Publishings online website. According to it, I'm fully legal.
Hey everyone! Hows it going?
I just had an interesting chat with a city code inspector. He was sent to my property to check out a complaint in the alley. Turns out it was further up the alley. Of course, while he was here he checked my property. He told me, "I'm gonna ignore this but" my...
Hey everyone! Hope all is well.
The bar is nearly done. Shooting for end of June opening. https://www.facebook.com/azbeerhouse
The girls are good. The ones that are left. I had to cull 2. Now we have 3 left. Still plenty of eggs for our family.
The girls love grapes and the grape leaves. I...
It pretty common for Easter Eggers to be mislabeled as Ameraucana. I got my EE's they kept calling them Ameraucana's. Ameraucana's are a true breed where as EE's are a mix that lays green/blue eggs.
Hey everybody! Doing well here. Working 80hrs a week between my job and getting my bar together. I'm pooped. This also takes away time to spend with my flock. I've started giving them greens everyday, plus some B syrup stuff down the gullet once a day. Now I have 2 Wyandottes who are limping...
