Oh look mother has brought our water, shall we drink from it, yes! Shall we bathe in it at -9 degrees, QUACK YEEESSSSS!
On a different note some of my chicken eggs that I did not collect a few days ago. They froze.
If you're really worried move them in the garage, its only one night or so. A -30 wind chill is a -30 draft. That's way to cold. A small coop is actually good for winter as the hens have less space to heat but drafts toss that plus out the window. Thanks for the heads up on the weather too...
As long as there is no draft to chill the hens you should be fine. You can always add the bulb just in case. The added light at night might bother them.
Mine roost on a shelf and huddle to stay comfy. Sometimes my silkie cross will roast on the ground plank all by herself. One tough little...
Wind last night kept me up... Thought the ducks would be blown all over the place it was that bad. So I open my window to check... Nope their just sitting there, wind blowing, still sitting. Do you ducks have like magnetic feet or something?
The snow... I go out, I come in, I go out 7 minutes...
Mine just started laying again last month. First it was just Epsom and now some of the others are pitching in. Didn't notice till I looked in the far corner. They even dragged the dummy duck egg over XD.
Hmmm temping. I'd rather wait and see if they get any this year though, but thanks for the info! Don't wanna get mix up with chicken math and what not lol.
The Plymouth Agway/Morrisons are trying to get polish chicks this year! Oh I hope they do, especially with the disappointment of the poor hatch rate for the speckled sussex last year. They also finally switched over to nutrena feed.
Whoot snowing pretty hard right now. Just went out to put some extra shavings In for the ducks. Chatting up a storm. Kinda didn't know that slate went back in the house so I kinda fluffed shavings all up in her space, lol. Surprisingly not "cold" out feeling, yay!
Wow must have some really... really horrible neighbors... to get them to call on you about your chickens. Assuming they agreed on these "terms"
People like this... stay AWAY from da coast, Mmmkay.
Hello kelsey and welcome.
Agway is currently discontinuing their brand and switching to Nutrena feeds, don't know why or when this will happen. The plymouth store still had Agway brand feed when I restocked last month.
I use the game bird maintenance/finisher, but That's because I have ducks...
Just went out to feed my ducks... They were happy to see me with foods and drink. About 1.5 ft at most right now and the wind has 'slowed' a bit. Had to crawl in the snow to get to them :3. Been checking up every few hours to make sure that they are ok. They walked out after me, I'm just like...
Build Sass with Mass! Hello peoples! Still new here and figured I'd try to find some locals.
Currently in the market for wide range of small chicken/chick/H-Eegs breeds (bantie.Polish.Silkie) to help stabilize my 'flock' of 2 bantams for the winter. Probably around 10. Kinda hard to find...
