We have had Silkie roos sit on eggs A LOT! They "babysit" the nest when the women are gone, and they "fluff" nests and call the ladies to check it out! We have even had one Silkie roo sit on his "own" eggs. He would gather a few eggs in one nest (not really his own , but he claimed...
Completely normal for 8 weeks old! They will grow out of it on there own. You can encourage them, but you don't have to. They will eventually roost "right".
I don't know, but I think you could have some boys! Some of them have a longer looking tail than the others. And maybe a droop to the tail as well? It was hard to see completely with the tall grasses.
We have watched our little guys (OEG) try extremely hard, with very submissive standard hens (Brahmas, BOs, BRs) and have seen it actually work a few times. But very rarely do they succeed!

Only the dust is being taken off the market. I've read because the dust is very hazardous. It's more likely to get into your lungs (or any breathing thing's lungs) and wreak havoc. Also the honeybee thing has been mentioned. With the bees already having issues, this is making it...
YAY!!!!! I'm feeling this happy day with ya! ENJOY EVERYONE!
Takin' my flock of a family bicycling today, we would enjoy a motorcycle ride more, but it's hard to get 8 of us on a motorcycle! We do have a vision of lining doubled-up side cars behind a motorcycle some day! You know, a...

If you have a pecking issue, definitely move the mama and babies for a week or two into the other fenced area. Then move them back with the others once she and the babies have gained some experience. This is what we have started doing the last two years. It works very well. As far as the 4...
Definitely sounds like a weasel or mink. You may find the body somewhere outside of the coop (without it's head most likely). If not that it's a stumper.
I think it's showing signs of roo feathers. Saddle feathers are looking questionable to me. And the tail feathers are awfully tall, but no droop started. So I'm just adding to the confusion. It is questionable!
I would think if he were a he, he would have started crowing by now.
Also BO hens...
The symptoms were vague. They started to just loose interest in being around the other chickens and they seemed really lazy. (That was the first couple of days.) Then they wouldn't come out of the coop in the morning. By the third or fourth day we found them dead in the coop, lying on their...
