Help me figure out what breed this chicken is please? It seems to have a crest starting and some slight feathering on the legs, a straight comb and white tips on its wings. I ordered a rare breed assortment and a rainbow layer assortment from Meyer Hatchery.
I didn't see this post before I posted my thread, if all you experienced peeps would look at my thread I would greatly appreciate your opinions :)

Those are def not buffs, I had some when I had chickens before. I'm wondering if they are welsummers? Anyway, they told you wrong about them being Buffs
Ok, the first I have are about 3 1/2 weeks old, I'm not sure when you can tell roo or hen and breed but thought maybe someone could help. These all came out of the pulley bin at tractor supply. All have yellow feet with no feathers.
This one I'm pretty sure is a roo:

Ok, I always get confused about counting the days. If I set eggs first thing tomorrow morning, they will be due April 29th. When is lockdown and day 7 and 14 for candling?
Thanks!
This chick had to be helped out of the egg, the egg had some fluid in the air cell during incubation. It was a shipped egg. Any advice? He is walking on his"knuckles"?? And is very spunky. I can't bring myself to cull him. He gets himself to water and food.
Ok, so one of my little guys is way different (black and yellow with feathers on the leg) than the other and I am pretty sure he is not a Lavender Orpington. I ordered lavender eggs, is that something I should email and complain about it is Lavender one that doesn't always breed true so not...
I set 8 shipped lavender Orpington eggs, 3 showed movement at lockdown. So far I have 2 babies and one pip that's been trying to zip all day. It's beak is sticking out of the hole and I can see it breathing. It started piping lengthwise at first, so I'm going to give it the night and and see if...
Ok, Thursday is what I thought too. I have 8 eggs, I'm pretty sure only 3 have chicks so would you toss he others. I just feel unsure. And one of my eggs with a moving chick still has a mobile air cell, should i take them out of the carton i have them in and lay them on their sides or leave in...
So if I set on Sunday afternoon, what day do I lockdown and change humidity. What humidity and temp do you recommend? Ive had some trouble maintaining high enough humidity throughout hatch so any recommendations on keeping it up during lockdown? what if i need to open to add water?? Sorry its...
Ok, Day 14 pics of my three growing babies with wonky air cells. Any advice on humidity or anything. Not a lot of change in the air cells in last 4 days except the one moving air cell grew some. Hoping for all three !!!
Our incubator is homemade and we have had some of this same fluctuation, I think it'll be fine. Like the previous poster said, some fluctuation is normal under a broody hen too.
