Well that sure sucks. I got them sold to me as hens when they were around 8 weeks I guess. Already have two roosters in a flock of 20 so I guess I'll be getting rid of these even though they are my favorite breed we own. Thanks for the help.
Ok ty very much for the help. Maybe a crazy question but is the egg still alright to eat if it's soft like that? I don't want to waste it if it's still good.
Li am feeding s mixed flock of roosters and some that aren't laying yet that's why I have them on grower with shells. But like I said none of them ever eat the shells. For the longest time I fed them a mix of laying pellets, whole corn, and scratch but I was informed by people on here that was a...
Suddenly this afternoon had an egg that was transparent and very soft. No eggs have been like this before so I'm very confused. They are fed grower and offered oyster shells freely. Although I have never seen any of them touch the oyster shells since we switched the feed to strictly grower so I...
Well I have another chicken doing the same thing today so we are keeping a close eye on her. She had watery poop and I read that could be caused by the extreme heat. So I'm afraid my other hen died of heat exhaustion. It had been in the high 90s the past few days. It's iust so confusing because...
Hoping someone may have a clue of what happened. A week ago we adopted five 1 year old hens that seemed to be in beautiful health. Our favorite one was an Ameracauna who seemed to be the best layer of all the ones we adopted. She the only one who laid daily and had a wonderful temperament. Well...
Ok well I appreciate all the info. I told her and she said that they did actually give them oyster shells. So you I give them as much grower and oyster shells as they like daily? I read online to treat them with scraps and corn every once in a while.
Where do I get crushed oyster shell? And what does that do for them? This is just a bit confusing because my wife and her family have raised chickens for ever and they never feed anything but corn and they have never had a single problem. They look at me like im crazy when I start talking about...
Are Cornish rocks and cornish cross two different breeds. Because I googled Cornish rocks and it looks like the chickens we have. I'm thinking the reason they are smaller is due to my ignorance that meat chickens were suppose to have constant access to food. This is our first batch of meat...
I got them so grower today but even the grower feed only has 19% protein so that's not a huge difference from what I'm already giving them. My run doesn't have a top on it because it's in the woods but I'll figure something out. I bought 6 of these from tractor supply and they told me they were...
