You could try to make a leg brace using a small rubber band and a cut piece of straw, I'll try to find a pic of it. That would probably be from an incubation fault, like a late hatcher or a long hatch from pip to fully out.
Gosh a rough start hey! That's no good that you were sold sick birds from the get go... Were they from a small local breeder or one of the larger ones? I breed Croad Langshan, Marans, Araucana, Cream Legbar and olive egg laying birds mainly. There are a few bits and bods on the farm too. My...
Thanks chooks 01 I'll put some more egg pics up later :)
I agree Fancy or some people use baby vitamins in drop form from the chemist. It can't hurt to try. Just don't use Vegemite for extended periods because it's very high in salt but an excellent emergency pick me up.
Hi Kerry,I'm from the dandenong ranges too. Isn't the sun nice! I should be out in it but I'm having a slack morning :) Hopefully some of the mud will dry off before it rains next. Lol! I've been spreading mulch everywhere so I don't have to keep dancing with the mud. Who have you got in your flock?
Sidhe I'm sorry your chick does not sound good :( I would get some ammprolium to rule out coccidia, it doesn't hurt to do as a preventative during these horribly wet months. They are incredible good at hiding their symptoms until it's too late
Poor little dogs. As if he didn't know the quarantine procedures. You would think that placing them in quarantine would be fair enough rather than destroying them.
Lovely pics as always Fancy :)
Here are a few more baby pics. It turns out this little baby...
Is a pullet!
Oh my gosh! It's been soooo long since I've been on here.... over 200 pages behind!I've got a bit of catching up to do :) I just had a hatch a week or so ago, they are super cute! I hope everyone had a lovely mothers day :
I had no idea cream legbar were hear either Luke and wondered what colour the eggs would be anf if they would hatch true to type but they were pretty good. They wouldn't give me any information about their breeding. I'll have to look up the breeder I bought them from, I wouldn't mind a few more...
These birds were bred from the birds left over/bought out from the uk breeding stock from the arpis1 failed import. Avgen the new company took the facility over and have new imports on the go and many more beautiful breeds will be hopefully coming here as well as ones to boost or gene pool :)...
Sorry to hear Satay, that's a pretty good innings though.
Luke, Maize is a Wheaten dark olive egg layer so she gets her pea comb from the araucana in her :)
Teila and Luke they are beautiful photos :) Marans do have a reddish tone, it's not your eyes :) Here is an old pic I've posted before but you can see how red they are. And a few pics of one of my favourites Maize:)
