These aren't my work, but aren't they beautiful? I ordered these from hatching eggs from a breeder in Michigan. I'm super happy with how they look and hope to someday make birds this beautiful.
I’m thinking of switching from dust to liquid because dust is so messy. I got the dosing ratio down (2 teaspoons to 1 quart water) but how exactly do I treat them? The instructions say to spray them but I don’t want to get any in their eyes. Can I use a dropper like I do when I use ivermectin...
I added a new cockerel to my flock about two weeks ago. He was added to a flock of 9 hens and another rooster. Things were going fine for awhile but now I see him misbehaving quite a bit. He has been terrorizing the hens, stalking them, trying to mate with them in an aggressive way that they...
My hens just LOVE to raise babies. I hatched some eggs in the incubator and gave my broodies a few chicks. These girls LIVE to be moms. It is so fun to watch. (Never mind the screaming broody in the nest box! lol)

The chicks hatched Saturday and ever since Monday I’ve noticed their poop has been runny. No blood, just runny.
They are fed unmedicated feed and give water with vitamins, electrolytes and probiotics.
Heat source is a heat plate so I know they aren’t overheated.

I have had this incubator for two years without any issues. Now suddenly I start it up for the season and the temp keeps dropping, setting the alarm off. Any idea why this is happening all the sudden?
I have a hen that started limping a few days ago and just today her vent smells badly. Here are some details.
1.5 years old
No respiratory symptoms
Poop is normal
Eating and drinking okay; but seldom
No mites or lice
Crop is normal
Laid an egg yesterday so not eggbound
I treated for worms just...
My sweet hen is suddenly bullying my 4 month old pullet for no reason and out of the blue. She chases her around and pulled a bunch of feathers from crest. She’s never done this before? Why is she doing this all the sudden and what should I do besides separate them for now?
I’m almost positive one of my hens has gapeworms so I am treating her with safeguard. Do I really need to treat the entire flock if they are showing no symptoms?
I admit I was a little nervous after having put hatching eggs out for one broody hen, three more became broody. I heard so many stories of hens fighting over eggs/chicks and even killing chicks after they hatch. I wasn't sure what to expect. Let me tell you watching these four mothers raise...
I had one egg that appeared to be smooshed by a bunch of rowdy chicks and it ended up dying in the egg. I know you’re not supposed to open the incubator and take out chicks during hatching, but how do I prevent something like this from happening again? It looked like a perfectly healthy chick...
I’ve recently started a barred silkie/satin (cuckoo) pen and am looking for some general advice on how to breed correctly. From what I hear, sometimes the barring fades and you will need to add black to the pen to keep the nice barring contrast. Is this true?
Right now I have one double...
I recently acquired a very beautiful rooster (in my avatar). After settling in, he is becoming aggressive towards me (spurring). He only spurs me when I touch the hens. Otherwise he is okay with me being around. I’m currently working on him to hopefully fix this behavioral issues. My question...
Does anyone else have them? I got a few chicks and I hear that they could be sex linked. How can you tell the females from the males? When do they get their barring? Will some not have barring? Parents are both cuckoos. Here are a couple of the new chicks I got. (One is obviously a satin.)
Last night I had to put my cockerel (8 months old) inside the coop because he couldn't get up, and this morning he didn't come down the ramp. It looks like he's got a bad leg. I had this happen before with his father who ended up being euthanized because he never recovered from the limping...
