I know this is a bit an older threat, but I’m glad that you gave her some other chicks ^^ I had a single chick with my broody last year, but somehow it had so much trouble with the flock and he was so scared of everything, which caused him to be a meal for a hawk…. Momma went to the flock after...
Hi there, this may (or may not) be a bit a weird request for some, but I need prayer for my cat.
He is an outdoor cat (i live on the countryside in Belgium where there are no natural threats) and usually sleeps at home, but for the last two days, he didn’t show up.
He has a habit of not showing...
I made the mistake of having two broody chickens next to each other. One started to get broody when the other one was already 4 days in, but since she was sitting on too many eggs, I took the cold ones and gave them to the new broody. I was gone for half a day, assumed everything was fine… it...
Thank you! I’m keeping them in my bra but I don’t think it’s warm enough tho… I will try your tips in the closet with a heating pad when I get back home :)
Oh haha!! Well, still great that it seems to be alive and healthy! Congrats either way on the babies that already hatched :celebrateMy broody hatched one and decided to ditch the other two eggs that were almost hatching… I got no incubator so I’m trying to keep them warm in other ways, doubt...
Did you read the other comments as well? The person in question got the dog when the dog was already 2 years old. There’s no reason to be a complete asshole in the comments. There are enough ways to say those things in a nice manner and you’re no help with any of your comments either.
I’ve had chickens when I was a kid/preteen 2 times before I got my new flock 1,5 years ago and both times they were hybrid laying breeds.
The first pair we got died after 2 years because of parasites and we sadly had no knowledge about parasites at all so we were far too late to try and rescue...
Yeah I think the lines in my country in general aren’t that strong. People here really tend to keep their chickens very pure so there’s a lot of inbreeding.
Thank you so much for your tips! Well, I’ve only got my phone light. I will try to candle them again with a stronger phone light in a darker room. I know she had eggs before that were fertile even though I didn’t see clear veins in them. I don’t dare to crack one open haha, I did that once by...
So I have a broody who is sitting on eggs of her sister.
My question is, since I do not see any veins on day 5, are they even fertilised?
The eggs have a thicker shell than the ones of my Barnevelder, all I see right now is a dark yolk.
The eggs I have inside of her sister are all clear. Thing...
Oh this is so nervewracking!! My broody chicken has her first hatchling this morning, hoping for the others to hatch as well :) Hope everything is going well with all your other chicks!
The thing was that they also had another breed of chickens, same age, same hatchery. They also had it but didn’t have any symptoms nor did they die. I noticed my flock was having coccidiosis as well and I treated them, but none of them seemed sick or lethargic and none of them died as well.
Thank you for the tips. I got it from this site :

It wasn’t my intention to give anyone advice and I just took a screenshot for what could’ve been the cause. I will make sure to provide the article or link next time.
