We talked about it for years. Glad I finally got the guts to do it. We aren't as far out as is like. We are about 5 to 7 miles from Duncan. We decided that was safer in case the kids got sick. Besides we really loved the land and liked the house.
I had bad neighbors and a bad school for my kindergarteners, We moved to our ten acre in December. We didn't sell the other house, but we moved anyway. We got lucky. Our old house sold a month after we moved. Best thing we ever did! It was risky. We didn't make any profit on our old house.
I like the way you think Robin! I really don't want to put an ad on Craigslist. Hubby wants to eat him for dinner. I don't think we could do that yet. Plus I don't want to pluck and dress him.
Free Americauna rooster in the Duncan/Marlow area. He's beautiful. It's too windy to take a picture. He's great with my two grown hens but he's aggressive towards my NN juveniles.
Our chicken yard is a very large dog pen. The predator pulled on him where it connects and it forms a triangle. I think I will make sure everybody is in one of the coops and it's locked up tight. Putting solid surfaces along the bottom is a good idea. I'm glad he didn't get to eat him. That...
. Stupid raccoons! So far we haven't had any problems with hawks. Knock on wood. We see them flying around here. Our chicken yard is covered with chicken wire. I know nothing keeps out a determined predator, but we try.
yeah I figured raccoon. I don't know if my dogs would take down a raccoon. I think they would, but they are in the house at night. I haven't had anything mess with the big chickens but I just put the babies outside. I kept them in the run attached to the coop. I just wasn't careful last night...
We lost a Baked Neck last night. I guess the run wasn't latched right and something tried to grab it through the fence. I found it halfway under dead. They didn't get the snack. I'm worried now that whatever it was (raccoon?) might keep coming back now that they know chickens are here. We are...
We have been super busy with poor sick babies (human ones). I haven't been able to keep up with posts. I went to the auction in Blanchard. So much junk there. By the time they did the junk and eggs I was beat. I only got to see the chicks auctioned. No adult birds. I feel like they wasted time...
My Americana rooster finally got lucky. He kept trying and trying but they threw him off. My barred rock still wants nothing to do with him. He seems to like her best. I guess the Americauna hen gave it up too easily!
