My family would relocate me to the compost pile. I've already got ducks going in the bator for my bro and my project. Then I've got a broody on a half dozen she's decided are good, plus the 4 EE pullets I picked up, lol. I think I'm done for this year. Next year it's guinea fowl...
They're awesome birds! Sweet, curious, personable, consistant eggs, and good broodies to boot! Speckled Sussex are one of my number one breeds for best of show!
I've got an oe priject, collected and hatched two eggs from the same hen.. the chicks are both looking like roos, so much for 50/50, lol. Even if it is a barred cross, it will be a big fluffy neat bird that hatches! Best of luck, sorry you lost your girl.
I just watched a YouTube video on caponizing, omg! Forget seeing that on my farm. I'd rather slow cook, stew, and chew. I've had a tubal ligation, thank goodness I was knocked out for it!
What is the purpose of taking away a roos sperm production? If they're SOP, then no babies, if you're preserving a breed, no babies.... I'm very confused, neutering a roo?
I think we have too many chickens for that method. :gig We'd have to wear hazmat suits to clean up the branches for all the manure left on them :sick :gig
I'll X2 on the barreds! Heck partridge rock for that matter too, my big daddy roo is one, and we lI've him to pieces!
When I was young, neighbors had RI and they were mean, so I've not bothered with them in my flock.
People who love silkies, really live silkies and there are folks around here that have them. We can raise just about anything here if the micro climate is provided :welcome Have fun!
Yup, we've been doing all sorts of pruning and minor felling to get our natural fence posts. We finished up the last three orchard trees today, tomorrow will be a bit more harvest from the weed trees, then it's just maintaining.
