Mr Wonderful is handsome! I am sure he makes some adorable babies. I have missed you and all the cute chicken pics/talk also. It took the longest time to get use to not having to go out to feed the guys first thing in the morning. Just didn't feel right for a long time. I am loving the new...
Hello to all my chicken people. Oh my goodness, all the cuteness! Missing my bunch horrible. :hitI have someone from the neighborhood looking for some fertile silkie, fizzle or mille fleur. I thought maybe @Faraday40 might have some Silkies? They have a silkie who has always been at the bottom...
@Faraday40 your pencil rock is beautiful. Love seeing all the pics, and all the beauties you have. You have some tough choices.
Couple of big things going on over here.
First,
I received wonderful news. I have 2 new grandchildren on the way and at least 1 will be my first granddaughter. I am so...
Oh that poor girl. I wish I could help but I do not have any experience with such. Although I have seen much worse, Steve's silkie who had a chunk taken out of her by a opossum. She made it and the wound was much worse. Good luck and I hope she will be fine.
It could have been. He is much bigger than the other 2, but that pop I felt was scary. And he was back to using his leg to walk within 5 minutes after. He seems to be doing well, so fingers crossed.
@Brittany Zickus post a pic. I have hatched a many frizzled cochin bantams. I am not familiar with silkies. But unless it is crossed with something else, I don't know if Silkies come frizzled.
Update on Mr Blue Cuckoo: Swelling was down a bit by the next morning and he was back to walking normal. Leg is still a bit swollen though, just going to watch and perhaps give him an Epsom soak to help with the swelling.
I went to go out to give the guys some treats this afternoon and when I got to my 3 littles, I noticed my blue cuckoo boy holding his left leg up and kind of falling hopping. His leg was so swollen that the band I had on him was almost covered. With the help of my son, we were able to use some...
:welcomeHi Brittany, I live on the south side of the city, Mt. Greenwood area, near Oak Lawn suburbs. The pet store near me, Animal Krackers, in Merrionette Park, carries Prince crumble for chicks and layer pellets. I use the crumbles for my whole flock, layers and chicks alike. The like it and...
I also snapped some pics of my Juvies. They are filling out nicely and my mottled orp pullet is a big girl. Hoping to get some more flecks of color on the Jubilee after her first molt. And the russian has great color and the muff is nothing but fluff!
The 3 pullets are about 2-3 weeks older...
I was wondering the same thing? Whats Fools Lace?
Also @Faraday40 I posted the pics of the chick I think looks like your grey brown chick. What do you think?
I agree with @Faraday40 and @Junibutt on the sex of your chicks. Here are my 3 from Junibutt.
I believe this first cockerel looks like your dark grey brown chick.
I am guessing this one below might be a pullet. Her comb has been black and much of nothing up until this week, it has begun...
@Faraday40
I will have to get some current pics tomorrow. But I knew I had a cockerel with the blue cuckoo because of the dot on his head. Both of the chocolate silver laced had dots on their heads but the 1 developed a large yellow comb right away. The other had a almost nothing black comb. So...
Any signs of the minks? Hope they don't come to visit any of your coops. I also saw this posted on FB this week. They were spotted near Lake Carroll
I have moved the juvies into the big coop, I still have to put them in every nite. First time I have chickens that don't want to go in on their...
Daughter came to pick up the kids and asked me if I wanted to run to Hobby Lobby with her. Came home with this awesome sign for the yard and it was 50% off. I don't know where I am putting the old well pump but it has been sitting in this spot since spring, lol. I need to find a spot for it. !
@megpie021 Congrats on the Easter egg!!! :wee
@Faraday40 this one is wonderful. Looks like it could be the cover of a calendar. Tell your daughter nice job!
