I forgot that I haven't shown y'all my new babies yet! All new breeds to me: two females of each, barred rock, Delaware, gold-laced Wyandotte, and Barnevelder . I'm so excited to watch them start feathering in!
This is when I first got them at three days old.
And some baby portraits...
What an adorable baby! I'll have to get that contact info from you next year. I want a good LGD dog myself and have been looking into the different breeds before I started looking for breeders. I love the idea of a nice mix!
Lol! I sure will! And if not, I'd be willing to sell you a couple of my 15 week olds that will start laying at the end of November. I just realized that I have 7 girls, two that are laying now, and with the ones I'll be getting today, that's a lot of hens! Plus I'm going to be getting a couple...
I can ask her Monday. She's going be calling me first thing and they tend to sometimes have extras. The available now screen changes on Monday morning hatch day!
Yeah they have quite a few different kinds of chickens and other birds! I get the first pick of the extras babies hatched, hopefully I'll get what I want! If I end up only getting ten, do you really want a random girl chick? :-D I'm an enabler, I KNOW! I was encouraging my chicken friend to get...
Oh that would be great! I would love for him to find a nice home where his little crest can grow back. He had such a pretty crest when I thought he was girl. Then more feathers started growing in and they must be getting pecked off. Luckily he doesn't seem to be hurt by it, but I don't want to...
Welcome Jr!
I agree with Wisher, BexB, I don't think you have very many chickens at all! You can't count the roosters and only those chickens that lay! :-)
Oh no, Orps! I had so many roosters from my spring chickens and of my five "rare egg layers" that I ordered from Meyer hatchery, all...
I'm so sorry about your loss, Raz!
Icandi, your babies are adorable! My two Easter Eggers that I got from Wisher are laying medium eggs, just started a month ago!
Kimberly, those ducklings are adorable too! FTD (fear the duck) as my Canadian chicken friend says (a few of you know her)...
I got my chicks from Wisher mid March and the Easter Eggers started laying two days before Labor Day. Some breeds just take longer, and some birds just do too, from what I hear.
Oh good! I meant to say something to you about quarantining, it's kind of scary really how many people don't do that. And I completely forgot, so I'm glad you're one of the smart chicken owners! :-) I haven't had any sicknesses so far (knock on wood) but better safe than sorry! I'm so glad he...
Oh man, I would LOVE all those good breeders. Hmmmm let me see what happens with this hatchery that I got these "sexed" chicks from. I got five roosters that were supposed to be rare egg layers. Not gonna be laying any eggs..... :-\. If they replace all of them, I'm gonna have a bunch of extra...
How old are the ladies, and how much would you want for them? I am interested, I've enjoyed how beautiful the boys are, and I have no brown egg layers at all, as much as I want them!
I had planned on getting ten black orps and after seeing your beautiful egg basket, I ended up with 6 BOs and 10 Easter Eggers. I ended up with no hens from the BOs and two hens from the EEs. I knew I was cutting my chances of getting any girls by getting less of that type of chick, but I was so...
Ohmigoodness, YES! My birds that I got from you are HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL! I need to get some more girls from ya for real. I have what is probably going to be a blue roo that I would LOVE to put against some of your beautiful girls. Not only are they gorgeous, but they are really healthy too! That...
Ok so i know this is a chicken website, but I thought I'd ask. Does anyone know where to get raw milk in Alabama, Birmingham general area to be more specific? Or even just a dairy or two nearby? Thanks!
They are! I love that one too! It's funny, there's two laying and I can definitely tell a slight difference in cookout and definitely a difference in size! Are yours from that hatch laying now? Those two hens are the sweetest things. They follow me around the coop. Now I just gotta get some golf...
I'm three days behind on my reading and catching up on BYC, but I just had to share this! This is what I came home to after my three day vacation, MY FIRST EVER FIVE EGGS! Of course they wait till I'm home to start laying! I'm such a proud chicken mama!
They're next to a white store bought egg...
