This would be Silver Blue Oe Cockerel, what you have appears to be a cockerel possibly blue or splash may be one of several breeds but not OE without a single comb.
BB Red over SDW will result in Golden Duckwing cockerels, and BB Red pullets.
If you have a hard time getting a line of Birchen going or if you are really interested in a good male line I plan to let two Silver Blue cock line cockerels and one Birchen male line cockerel go quite soon. I have a...
Then its likely the black hen is carry's silver for hackle and saddle just covered up with black. Breed him back to her and get you a nice line of Birchen going.
I have been reffering to that as a Golden Birchen, I get them using Brown Red to improve the Birchen, You can also get very similar results from a Birchen based Black carrying Red when bred to Birchen,
Yara,
I made a cross a few years ago with Columbian OE over BB Red, he is very similar to many of the 2nd and 3rd generations past the cross. I did let several of them go to others who working the Columbian so could well be from that, I am in Central OK and given where some of those birds went...
I know the Brits, and Eu raise their OE to different standard in regard to tail and body structure. For Birchen you have the best colored male comb and face I have seen to date from anywhere. I would love to have the genetics for that comb color in my Birchens here in the US however feel that it...
A quick shot of one of my Birchen Breeder males. a bit weak in saddle color but has proven to be a good breeder when bred to he right females. Have a bit of work to do with feather width as well but I think the females he is mated to will help there as well.
The show season has just really kicked off around here back in late Oct. we will have a show nearly every weekend till mid. feb. The shows here were canceled this weekend due to weather and road conditions, but I still have the ABA nationals this weekend.
Feather quality is one of those breed defining traits I just wont bend on. He is heavy feathered and young but very tight and hard feathered. It really helps keeping them in shape with a good hard feather, they just do not get damaged as easily.
Here is a Silver Blue K, the Birchen above typically keeps his wings up like this one but I took those pics on his first trip through a show coop, he is still in training this guy has been through a few times and is much more comfortable.
This has been a long road for the males, as well as good competitive females I had to take two different routes to get them where I wanted them but am quite pleased with this years results. I would be more than happy to discuss them with you feel free to call Carl 405 878 6381
