After we drained her she headed right for the food we had out . It's been a couple days since then and we are going to drain her again tomorrow. She's walking to the same spot everyday to go sit down and not move. It's been in the 100s this week so I'm not sure if she's trying to cool down or what.
Hi! I have a 3 year old Americana hen who has lately been slowing down her egg production. I found her in the coop and picked her up seeing that she has a red bum and poop stuck to the feathers around her vent... I brought her inside and she is currently in a warm sink. She's drinking her tub...
Hi there! I would first go but some 7-Dust and then cover her all over in it. Mixing through her feathers too. This will kill any mites or lice that are on her. You can find 7-Dust at Homedepot and other hardware stores. See if this helps:) Oh! Clean the coops and any place that they nest. Then...
I would treat for Coccidia just in case:) It could be just intestinal lining that's shedding- but it's a lot lighter red. Coccidia can be treated by using Corid.
This is a picture of Coccidia
This is intestinal wall sheddings
Here. Read this, it may say if it is contagious or not. The whole flock must be treated. http://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$department/deptdocs.nsf/all/agdex4616
Try soaking in Epsom salts...
I'm looking online but not much. Maybe dislocated tendons? Try stretching the leg back as if the chicken was stretching, and see if it relocates the tendon. I'll keep looking.
I would dust them with 7-Dust just to make sure that they do not have mites. I had 2 babies that hatched before the others and both died from mites. I dusted all of the chickens and coops and no more passed after that. :)
Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about your Pullet:( If she's eating and drinking awesome! If she wasn't then not so awesome. Have you tried setting her outside and seeing if she wants to eat grass or just sit in the sun? It's good to get their muscles to start working or they will become severely...
Treat them 10 days after your first treatment. With the hen sitting on the eggs just dust the hen and dust the nest+ on top of eggs. Won't hurt them:) it's just a powder. You can also pour it all in their dusting area.
