Okay everyone. Chrystal has been working super hard on designs and she has come up with some great ideas.

In general, the "medium" to "large" coops will almost be built in the same fashion as a shed or small barn. There are plenty of free plans out there for these types of structures. Also, when people have in excess of 10 chickens the variability in how they design and build their coops also goes...

Our very own member, ChrystalGail has experience with CAD and has volunteered to help us build some basic / easy plans for our perfect coop.

I really like all the ideas we're seeing... keep them coming.
One thing that I like is the cement under the door found in the picture posted for Chirpy's coop.
We put some cement blocks under the door of our run to keep the predators out. The only problem is that twigs, dirt, etc. get piled...

arwmommy, great post, thanks! We will definitely honor any existing plans / designs that people are not posting publicly, but that being said, if we end up designing a raised coop with an attached run, it will probably begin to look like the playhouse coop along with many of the other designs...
I agree that there are a lot of different variables, but I think we can come up with a plan that will accommodate 70% of the use cases. Another 25% should be able to make some basic modifications for their specific needs and 5% may just need to build from their own plans.
