The Poultry Palace
The property had been abandoned for 4 years, there were all sorts of critters
that moved in the house...it was horrible..No-one could imagine ever living in it lol
Last summer before we moved in..it needed alot of work, with the help of some good...
This can easily be made smaller or larger, just use half the "ribs" going across the hoop, any smaller than that and there wouldnt be enough room for 8-10 birdees
This is the link I used when i built mine in SC..it was soooo ez. http://westsidegardener.com/howto/hoophouse.html
However..If I build another, theres a few things I would do differently.. I would buy a huge tarp & tent stakes & stake the whole thing down, because when it gets windy, the whole...
Yes it was a lucky find. People around here say they dont like country living..but they sure love coming to visit , feasting on smoked pork BBQ & watching all the animals lol
I had a game hen once & let me tell ya ..I hatched babies from her that had various fathers from "normal" birds from my flock..the roosters were the worst..natural born fighters.
When I lived in South Carolina I had assorted pens & coops. This is my 1st winter with a barn so I decided to try the deep litter this winter. I havent raked out any of the
hay in a few months, just keep adding more & It seems to work well. My barn doesnt stink at all, every couple of days I add...
A close friend had his golden retriever stolen- Its been 1 month today & its unlikely the dog is coming back home. We have contacted everyone and posted flyers everywhere..what a shame..he is truly missed.
Its time to find my dear friend a dog. I have been looking for a black lab or even a...
I am looking to buy 2 great quality black silkie pullets or young hens (under 1 year). By great quality i mean properly placed toes, full middle toe foot feathering, nice tight wings.
I would be interested in a trio but the roo would need to have very small proper comb & would like him to be...
I have 9 muscovy ducklings & an adult chocolate drake , the babies are chocolate pied..Im not exact on the age, but are medium sized. This was a sneaky hatch, so I just want to find them a home. They are not tame, raised by their momma. I Dont eat duck, but These are getting close to the right...
The price of feed has gone way up, just 3 years ago i paid-
$4.75 50lbs of scratch
$5.50 laying pellets or starter
That was in O'burg SC & St George SC ..now i pay $13 for scratch & $12-14 for the others...unbelievable that 20 bux & change got me 200lbs of feed
when I first got into birds I fed them nothing but scratch ..lol..I didnt know any better, its what my neibors down south used & I did the same. Eventually i learned about their nutritional needs. Needless to say, from Java green peacocks, ducks, guineas & chickens..everyone turned out fine...
I got a 26gal tub ($16.99 at TSC) & floating water heater ($19.99 at TSC) because I have quite a few birds ..and a rabbit who also lives with them.
Now id like to keep the poop out of the water since the water to my barn keeps freezing. Any ideas on how to keep the ducks from swimming, but...
That coloring is AWESOME!! I would have thought that there would have been leakage in other places on his body, but WOW!!
New color variety? big_smile
Thanks.. when he 1st started showing the red, it seems to be random leaky flecks, but then it just kept filling in like that ..theres no...
Note: the blue cochin is his brother ..he has no weird colors in him & im noticing in the pics that the red is very symetrical, but it doesnt cover his whole wing .however he is still young & the red has slowly filled in his wings, so im assuming it will keep coming in
I hatched a black cochin in the spring, he is getting larger & was showing some red flecks- now the flecks are gone & he has red wings, both are evenly colored also.
He supposedly came from a blue/black/splash backgroud ..Those were the only color cochins I saw at the breeders farm.
im new to...
