She was pretty much the same. No worse but no better. I kept changing the water every hour or two to make sure it stayed cool and I put it inside the coop by her so she wouldn't have to walk much to get to it. I'm hoping it's just a pulled muscle or something and she'll be okay.
This is spice. She is an 8 month old mixed pullet. Yesterday she showed no symptoms of anything and then today she is unbalanced and panting. I first noticed something was up when none of the chickens were outside on this beautiful day. It's sunny and 80 degrees for the first time in a while! So...
Once she does pass definitely send her out for a necropsy so you can find out what they were. But for now maybe take her to a vet? If not just plenty of fluids and make sure she's comfortable
Raccoons can also behead chickens. I had one open the latch of my coop some how (I have trouble opening it some days) and beheaded one of the three chickens. It ran off with another and the other one just had its neck broken. So so so sorry for your loss I hope everything works out
I got my first eggs yesterday too! The brown one is a store bought egg but the two blue ones are from my Aracauna mixed. Not sure which one laid them but I'm happy. They are just under 5 months
I believe it's a hatching deformity. I don't really think there's too much for you to do. I'm not too seasoned so I'm sure someone has better advice but I would just keep it warm and make sure it gets plenty of food and water. Does it act any different from the other chicks?
I had 3 beautiful silkie pullets. I was super attached to them as one of them grew up a lone chick and then I hatched out two more. One of the two got a pretty bad case of wry neck but after a few months of constant care she finally got better. I finally moved them out to the coop and everything...
My rooster is non stop crowing. 4:30 am the sun isn't even close to coming up and he's crowing. 2:30 am the neighbors outdoor spot light turns on. He's gotta crow at that obviously. All throughout the day he's crowing. My roo is a non crop crow machine. I also live in the suburbs of NYC so they...
I just read this whole thing and I have to stay everything was just so well written. Here I am crying because I just feel for you so much. I felt like I was with you everyday through your writing. I am so so sorry for you. You're a strong individual. Truly a blessing for your chickens to have...
Hello! I have three beautiful chickens that I have no idea what kind of chickens they are. I got them from a friend that has a bunch of chickens so they could possibly be more than one breed but if you have to take a guess what would you think? They are also 22 weeks old and I haven't gotten any...
