Hey y'all. Just wondering if anyone (or if you know of anyone) in Alabama takes in "special needs" chickens. There are some other states that have rescues for defective chickens; i.e. severe spraddle leg, curled toes, blindness and cross-beak. Best I can tell, Alabama doesn't. I have a...
On of my new spring chicks is showing signs of cross beak. I am SO conflicted. The marsh mellow in me says just to keep it and try to give it some sort of life. The practical side of me says it's quality of life will be deminished, so it should be put down. The cheating wimp in me is...
The chicklets are here! The chicklets are here!

Pics to follow soon. Can't wait to show off my new brooder too. We are going all TSC this year and brooding in a stock tank. Should be able to house them in it until the weather warms up.

...My chicks should be in by friday. My first brooder of the year will be golden comets. I have had such lock with them, it's hard for me to go another direction. However, these will all probably be for re-sale. That is, unless I fall in love with one or two............ *sigh* Chicken math.
War Eagle! :)
I would love some quail eggs! Not for hatching or anything but for blowing out for Christmas decorations. Almost my whole tree is eggs now! And I saw the cutest wreath with quail eggs wired in with pretty spring ribbon on pinterest............
Jealous! I was supposed to get chicks for Valentine's Day but the people we were getting from had a problem with their incubator and didn't have a full hatch. I was lower on the list, so I missed out this go-round. I am at the top for their next hatch though! How are your Valentine Chicklets...
