I use a spatula to do spot cleaning when rain gets in my sand run.

Sort-of-Update: I have been cleaning my hen's beak with a saline solution and hydrogen peroxide (I found using a pipette worked the best) and its gotten a little smaller (on the outside at least). I also added ACV to their waters just in case that helps. So far I have not noticed any differences...

No bad odor, but I will make sure to keep checking in case that changes. Thank you for the links, the info is very useful!

I have the same problem with a chicken I took in after she was bullied badly by her past flock. I've tried time and time again but she just can't be around other chickens in an enclosed space :( Although its not exactly a perfect solution, I found that adding more hiding spots in the run helps...
