You don’t disappear, because you are telling us. And you even give a very understandable explanation why.
Hope to see you back someday on this thread or one of the others I visit regularly.
Hope you come over all the losses soon and please do whatever feels right for you. Maybe your focus on...
I typed this yesterday:
Are you still at your parents place Manue? Hope to hear from you soon.
And forgot to post it. 😏
Nice to have you on board again Manue.
:hugs :hugs :hugs
Beautiful memories for Laure. And no way you are to blame she didn’t have a long life. Remember she had almost 2 years of happiness both you and your partner have given her. 🧡
Same from me!
Hope your dad is recovering ❤️🩹 well and your chickens are okay if you get home again.
Can you practice running daily from your parents house?
Lots of good ideas about a future flock.
Less and smaller chickens you can keep in a run will eventually make your life easier. And certainly if its big enough to keep them imprisoned for a few days. Running. Visiting parents. Etc.
I love it to have the possibility to go on a vacation and...
🧡🧡
Just try to enjoy your chickens and the beautiful landscapes like your followers do. Maybe useless to say but worrying doesn’t help at all.
Since about 5 years wolves have established in the Netherlands too.
People have been taking nightly pictures of wolves in shopping streets and parks...
Our view from the diner table. Like to throw some old bread or put an almost empty yoghurt package out there to watch the chickens from the inside when its could out there.
A stranger cat always seems to know and takes over after the chickens have their pecks of yoghurt.
Glad Chipie is back...
I understood implants are a temporary solution. Never read that an implant stops a hen completely to lay.
If she had eggs awaiting in her systems they probably start coming after the implant isn’t active anymore.
Yes, in the grain are sunflower and maybe other seeds too.
In the Netherlands feed comes in thick double paper too.
At home I put it in airtight (paint) buckets the same day. Bc we often have mice in the bike shed where I keep the feed stored.
:hugs 🤞
Hopefully Annet will recover on her own...
The grain mix I buy is probably not washed or heated. The corn is cut but all other grains and seeds are whole and can sprout in the right circumstances. So I wonder if your grains are heated or maybe the factory just doesn’t want any claims if something goes wrong?
I buy 20 kg bags for some...
:lau So funny.
It’s the grain mix that is not heated. If any bugs laid eggs in the halms/crop, they can develop into moths and other insects. You only need two moths in a bag to develop a whole family of them.
This is why the expiring date on mixed grains is just a few months ahead, the date...
Possible I didn’t share it previously. Bc I got BYC member after the first year I had chickens. And I wasn’t an active member in the first couple of years.
In the Netherlands we have a chicken forum too where I could ask about keeping chickens as well. I was on it regularly, but got banned for...
Loved your story.
My thoughts (take it or leave it): Follow your own heart, not the wishes of others. 25 km is challenge too. I also know 42 km is beyond healthy while a 20 or 25 km run is good for your health. So this would be another reason to apply for the easier goal.
In the Netherlands we have people who buy production / laying hybrid chicks from a farm too, to sell at POL. Not all of them keep them in bad conditions. The guy who I bought my first chicks from did this too. He also hatched bantam eggs in an incubator and bought ‘second choice’ chicks from...
Poor girl. I do hope she hasn’t gotten an infection. I keep ny fingers crossed for her recovery 🤞.
Very weird that this group is sick so often. It makes me wonder wether their genes are okay 🧬 . But even if this is underlying, there us nothing you can do about it. :hugs
How is your nose...
