My flock is all mixed breeds. A lot of people recommend 1-8 I think for a ratio. Personally I'd try to go at least 1-4 so that the hens can get a break from being chased if he is a particularly randy male in the spring.
It could be different, I don't really know. Some of mine do it to announce when they see me, but they don't generally crow in my face unless I'm holding them
Some people claim crowing or breeding in front of people is a warning sign, but I have both happen daily in front of me and my boys are some of the nicest, most polite males. The side eye is more what I'd be paying attention too, since that means he's actively watching you and not ignoring you
The CDS is how I got my barn kitty, Princess. Slowly working on the other feral kitty, Jack Sparrow (Jack for short), but he's so terrified of people you can't even see him fully before he's bolted for the next several weeks.
Princess didn't look like she got bit this morning, so that was good. Feel bad about killing the snake when it wasn't the aggressor, but I couldn't get the cat away while it was still active
Selling a few ducks tomorrow hopefully. Planning on the 2 mixed ducklings, and a group of runners.
Killed a baby rattler last night. Princess does not seem to realize that snakes are not something to play with. Hoping she didn't get bit before I got to her. Itty bitty thing, barely even had...
