It’s completely normal. New layers often lay extremely odd eggs and will pace in and out of the box. They just don’t know what to do. They will do this before they lay the fist egg and a few days to weeks later.
Update on the eggs!
Today I put one magpie egg and a Pekin cross egg. And when I candled… I saw a little spiderweb of veins and the little heart pumping away! It is a Pekin cross egg! I am soo excited!!!! The magpie eggs are not looking too hot. :(
So today I put another Pekin cross egg in the ‘bator and now have a total of 4 eggs two Pekin cross two pure magpies. I feel like the older ones maybe developing but I see no veins yet. But it’s only day three. Worst case scenario they are infertile and I will try again!
there is a text box right an there is a buncha tools on the top. Got to the bottom where it says post reply and go left. You find a button that says attach files. Look for the files click on them and then wait till it fully uploads and post.
So an update!
I started my hatch yesterday. It was one lonely magpie egg. Today I picked up another Pekin khaki cross egg. I will be doing a staggered hatch. More babies for longer! The reason is because I only have 3 duck hens and 2 drakes. They are arranged to how they don’t get overmated...
