Three blue Silver Fox rabbit does for sale.
All three are from the same litter born in early April, currently about 8 months old. These does are very docile and gentle and would make excellent pets.
My rabbits are purebred and selected towards the Silver Fox standard of perfection and for...
Two-year Slate guinea cock. Originally from Winters Guinea Farm. Nice bird, good coloring. Don't want to sell but need to. Any offers will be considered. Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks
Selling a pair of my Cotton Patch geese. Hate to sell but need to downsize ASAP. Female is solid, minimal white speckling on face. Male has clear blue eyes, both have nice pink legs and bills. I hatched them last spring, 2013. Good birds out of a good line. Original stock from Flip Flop ranch...
9+ month old Egyptian Fayoumi hen. She is a beautiful bird, really hate to get rid of her but don't have the time or space. She started laying two or three months ago.
Purebred, 14 months. Hatched from eggs directly from Whitmore Farm, out of black/blue stock. Feathers picked a little by geese, a couple white primaries on each wing. Very good bloodline, would be a good introduction to your flock. Any questions feel free, must sell ASAP
Bullitt: I've raised and kept different production strain Leghorns, sex-links (red, black), and I've tried Cornish from different sources. But over the past several years I have gotten rid of them all in favor of heritage breeds.
jak2002003: Glad you liked it! I love the breeds that fly.
Thanks for all the kind comments, glad you all enjoyed the article!
to Bullitt: Yes, a Leghorn is a heritage breed. But the Leghorn that is used in laying houses has been so highly developed and refined by modern-day breeders the difference is night and day between them and "un-improved"...
It doesn't matter the age difference, if they are from the same parents it will make no difference how far apart they are born.
That is inbreeding, when you breed two siblings, and is generally fine for a few generations but sometimes leads to issues down the road.
I would suggest you do...
My phoenix usually go broody 2-3 times per season each (from now until August-September). I already have some on eggs this year. An occasional hen will not set at all. My bantams can cover about 7-10 standard size eggs, my standard phoenix maybe 12 at most.
Put the eggs in an egg carton, and turn the carton on it's side. Flip the carton once a day (So the eggs are turned 180 degrees). Keep them preferably in a cool dark place (out of direct sunlight, somewhere consistently between 60 and 70 degrees). My basement works ideal.
Their viability will...
Why raise heritage breeds?
From left to right: a Partridge Silkie bantam,
an American Dominique hen with "barred" color pattern, and
a Black-tail Buff Japanese bantam hen.
Whether you are a novice poultry keeper just beginning your journey in the world of chickens or an...
If it doesn't learn to eat on it's own I will probably cull it. These are for meat, I rarely have ever hand-fed a bird and would never use a bird as a breeder that has been hand-fed. It was about 5 days after it hatched I started hand-feeding, it hadn't started eating. In the countless chickens...
Thanks, they are on mash. The smallest one I have been hand-feeding which is why it is still alive, the other I've seen once or twice picking at the mash but it is mostly eating small bits of food off the other ducklings bills, when the other ducklings are eating.
Do you think wetting the food...
Hello, I was hoping someone with more experience with ducks might be able to help me as this is my first time raising ducks.
I am raising a batch of muscovies for meat, and two of the ducklings are not eating and do not seem to be trying to figure out how too. One is very small and I have...
Yes, you can definitely incubate them. I have incubated pullet eggs with no problems. You may notice a slight size difference in the chicks that hatch from a small pullet egg versus a large egg from a hen who has been laying for awhile, but I have not noticed any differences in the birds as they...
I haul spent grain for a brewery. It contains anywhere between 20-35 % protein depending on the grain and brewing methods, and is approximately 72% moisture.
In the summer I lay it out on tarps straight from the brewery wet, and use it straight from the tarp. By the end of the week all that is...
