They're roughly 2 weeks. We got them 9 days ago and they had some real feathering going on already. What we were told is they were a mix of all the straight runs they had that didn't sell so they could make room for more. Hoping they're all female :fl
I have 3 chicks my daughter bought out of a mixed bin at tractor supply. I hope someone can help me out with these cuties! Also if you have a guess on the gender feel free to comment that as well! Thanks in advance!
Sexing them?!? That can be dangerous. Hopefully she did get what she wanted and they were in good health. This is the first year my local store had incorrectly labeled breeds. Luckily, we're having fun guessing the mystery chicks! Corporate will still be getting a call in the morning...
Has anyone been to TSC lately to get chicks? We went in for our 3rd time this season and had the worst service ever! First the guy told us in a very rude tone, that we "can't pick and choose each chick because it just takes too long." We have always been able to do that; even the store manager...
That's what my guesses were after some google searches! We have decided to go get a couple more ducks after my 17 yr old's pleading. They're messy but melt my heart!
As promised, here are a few pics. Anyone want to guess breeds on the two ducks and the brown chick? I'm thinking welsummer or easter egger. The second chick is a barred rock from a straight run. We're hoping for a roo.
Thank you! And yes, the two little buggers have grown on me over the past day we've had them! I've been doing a ton of reading and will check out the duck forums :)
I might even post some pics tomorrow!
ETA: I have two sources of water in the brooder.
Oh my goodness someone please tell me why I let my daughter have ducklings?? They are rambunctious! Also, we just added 6 new chicks to our flock!
Any advice on caring for ducks will be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks!
This is her first time. I'll be sure to keep you posted!
Since the eggs were gifted to me I'm not sure about the fertility so should I try candling after about a week or just let them be?
