Heads up on Farm-Tuff Top Fill Poultry and Game Bird Waterer, 5 gal.

My review of this waterer is not good. I even called the company to ask them why water just pours out of this. I followed their instructions closely but it still leaks. I wanted it to work so much but its a fail for me.

Lets see your self serve egg stands!?

Just put this egg stand out a few weeks ago-selling out daily (3 days per week), on a busy road. We have 19 layers currently. I label cartons with handling instructions, date fresh picked, name & address sticker inside carton. In the egg stand I have lockbox for cash, working on adding a Venmo...

    Roadside stand…

I just put up a road side egg stand a few weeks ago-on a main Michigan state 2 lane highway, so lots of traffic. We have 29 hens and sell 7-8 doz mixed size eggs unwashed but clean per week-only open thur-sat. I have been wondering about claiming expenses and taxes and all that-i do keep track...

I moved them outside at 2 weeks. Yay or nay?

I second this! I made a Mama Heat cave and have used it for three seasons of chicks, I have some under it now actually. I love this method, unless power goes out then I panic. That heat lamp in that small cage space makes me nervous for you, I've read abut so so many fires caused by lamps.

    Brooder with not shavings?

At about 3 weeks old my chicks have eaten and torn up puppy pads, I still use them for 2 weeks then switch to shavings with a box of sand grit.

How often do you clean your brooder?

I use two clear totes connected by a chunnel (chick tunnel), puppy pee pads for the first two weeks, changed 2x day, mama heating pad.

Treats for chicks and other food questions.

I've broken up plain popcorn into tiny pieces as a treat for my baby chicks-they love it! I wait a couple weeks before giving mealworms, then i break up a few every few days, not much. It's fun to throw half a meal worn in and watch them all run around and chase the chick who picks it up lol

I put Chickenstock on my calendar!! :celebrate Will we have a swap like in years past, each bring something? I can bring plates and napkins, gluten free pasta salad, and a fruit dessert of some sort, and I'll check back before the day to see if anything else is needed. Looking forward to it!

    Thoughts on nesting box pads

I am going to do this tomorrow! thanks for the tip-i love reusing things when possible, and my hens kick out the premade nest box pads so this will at least not cost me anything if it does not work :)

    What made you happy today?

This is a tough question for me, sad day, but I'd say seeing my husband carry our hen Dolly inside to say hello made me happy for a moment :)
