    Acclimating Roos to each other...

I have my old Amie/Faverolle cross roo, who is a great roo. I also have a new Domique and a new Black Austalorp who are pure bred and both are a year old, this month. All 3 are beautiful roos, and serve their purposes, well. Cog, the old roo, does the attempt to fight thru the wire, but he isn't...

    "Pasty butt" question

How much poop on a week-old chick's butt is enough to worry about? I have 10 chicks that arrived on wedensday morning; 5 silver Sebrights, and 5 Silver Duckwing Phoenix. 6 of the 10 have lil poop balls on their butts, now. I've tried the warm water and trying to dissolve the poop, but no help...

    Swollen craw area in hen...

...for about 2 weeks, now. Her craw looks as if it goes all the way across her chest. She waddles around and eats. She doesn't seem to be in distress. But, I'm getting worried about one of my favorite EE hens. She's almost a year old, and has been laying for a few months, now. Is this a "stuck...

Any idea what this Roo is?

This is Rueben Cogburn, aka Cog. I bought him to be an Americauna Roo, but have been told that he favors a Faverolle (spelling?) His babies all look like standard Amies, and I have gotten 10 out of 10 pullets from his breeding (WOW!) He is a rather exemplary Roo as he won't eat the treats until...

    3 feet tall rooster breed?

I was told about a breed of chicken that has roosters that grow to more than 3 feet tall. I have searched and searched, but cannot find anything but a saipan, which is stated to grow 2-3 feet tall. Anyone have any ideas or know of any place where I can obtain any of these tall chickens? From...

Amateur hatcher question: low temp incubation

I bought a little 3 egg 'bator on a whim. $12 so what could it hurt? I pulled 3 eggs from my daily egg gathering and put them in the 'bator after it had sat 24 hours at 100 degrees. That was on 23 Sep. The temp has constantly stayed in the 90 to 98 degree range, since I put the eggs in. I have...

    Speckled egg layers...

I couldn't find an appropriate place for this, and settled here...There is a TV commercial about some type of skin care that shows a slightly off-white egg with dark spots all over it. Their goal is to remove the spots from your skin. Is that an actual spotted egg, or is it an egg with ink spots...

    North Mississippi/Alabama area

Hey, Ya'all! I live in Northeast Mississippi, about 2 miles from the 'Bama line. I like Ameracaunas, Seebrights, and any chicken that lays a green egg! Lemme know if you have any of these and are a trader/seller? My Wifey says I want too many chickens...I don't think so, I just...
