Many of my hens have a spot where their tail meets their back where the feathers are missing. Some are worse than others. Poor Shirley (pictured here) is the worst. Is this molting or are my roosters doing this to them??
Here is another hen, Charlotte:
My Blue Copper Marans is 13 months old and has never produced an egg. She is at the bottom of the pecking order of about 20. She also seems to be kind of dumb and goofy compared to the others. Is it a Marans thing? (I only have one other and she is normal.) Is any of this related? Will she EVER...
Hi! My name is Qi-Qi (pronounced chee-chee) and I am a silkie. My family got me from a feed store on a whim to make the kiddos feel better about having to give away some silly ol' roosters. I'm 26 weeks old. They think I'm cute and take good care of me but they are seriously clueless about...
I just stopped in the feed store and saw this...I'm not even sure it's a chicken! They asked me if i wanted it, that it was dropped off by someone not wanting it, and it was a male, crowing. Anyone know what it is and if i should take it?
I have a little Silkie who is sneezing, breathing funny, has a little goo around the eyes, listless, not eating or drinking. I have Tylan 50 and am willing to do injection or orally. Thing is, she is really small because she hasn't been eating much in the last week. (All her siblings are three...
Can anyone tell me what breed this guy is? He's bantam. The sides of his legs have a redness to them that I wonder if it's normal or something wrong with him?
A friend of a friend gave us some eggs to hatch. This one came out of a white-ish egg. Any clue as to what this now 4-week-old could be? Breed or gender?
Could it get any more egg-citing? We've been waiting a month for the chicken to lay (supposedly she was already laying before we got her) and none of our others are old enough (but supposedly they will be any day now too). Now we have or first egg. Gather the family for a feast!
I'm new to chickens. A friend gave me this one, and isn't sure of the age but believes he/she isn't old enough to lay eggs. My rooster was puffing up at her/him yesterday like he wanted a fight. I don't know what breed either, but surely a mix bantam!
Hi friends! I've been stalking this website for months with chicken questions and planning, planning, planning... I finally have my chickens! 10 bantams so far. One rooster, though there is another "hen" that I question! LOL!
Here's our dude:
