    Mink massacre of 2020

If 2020 can’t get any worse, 4 of my 6 babies were killed by a freaking mink. Devastated. We still haven’t caught the lil bas**** either. Anyways, the 2 babies that survived were also attacked- took them to the vet (which took 6 hours). Kylo Hen has the most significant Injuries on her neck- and...

    Mink massacre

Yesterday, I woke up to a mink massacre of my babies. The mink killed two welsh harlequin girls and two mallard drakes. 😭 I am so sad. The mink injured my two khaki Campbell’s but so far they’ve survived. I would like to get more ducks for Kylo Hen and Wampa so they’re not lonely. What do you...

    4 1/2 week olds outside

Question: just moved our ducks out last night. They will be 5 weeks Weds. They outgrew the brooder (plastic pool) and needed more room! Anyways, it’s supposed to rain Tomorrow. The run is half covered- the coop is completely roofed. Do I need to bring them in? I’m new to duck ownership. here is...

    Chicken coop/run

We are almost finished with our chicken coop and run. The coop is the OverEz one- all of the hardwire cloth around the run is buried into the ground. And we have a wood chipper and are going to chip downed branches and such around the yard for their run!

    Duck coop

Just wanted to post pictures of ‘The Duck Star’. The ducks are spending their first night locked in the coop :). Eventually they’ll get to go in the pond next to their house! But for a few weeks they’ll be staying in the run :)

    Beginnings of angel wing?

Hi all! The babies are growing fast! One of our mallards was bleeding from the blood feathers- so I moved her out of the pool over night so she could get a break. Just went back in with blue kote on. What I’m wondering is- is this the beginnings of angel wing? If so, do I just wrap it and switch...

Adding a new duck to 4 hens?

Unfortunately, our 5 day old Drake didn’t make it. I’m contemplating getting another drake to add to our 5 day old hens. How does one add a new drake into a little established crew? Do I even need to have a drake? My plan for the drake was the watch the ladies backs while they’re on the pond. Help!

    New ducklings- odd looking neck

Hi all- picked up my khaki Campbell’s and welsh harlequin boy and girls yesterday. I’m brand new to ducks so I have no idea if this is normal- but my khaki Campbell boy has a weird neck/throat thing happening. Kind of looks like a double chin 🤣 what’s going on?! His name is admiral Quackbar :)

Chicken keeps laying down and panting

We have a chicken names Ariel, who often gets bullied. Last week we noticed the other chickens had been pecking her neck. Just feathers missing and no bad injuries so everyday we've been putting the purple lotion anti peck stuff on it. (The lotion on her neck in the pic is the anti peck stuff)...

Separated chicken- how cold is too cold?

I have a chicken that is separated in the run so the feathers on her head can grow back. She has a tub that I made into a make shift coop with a roost. I've been bringing her in when the temps hit 30s because she doesn't have the other chickens to snuggle with. At what temp would you bring...

    Pecked chicken *Photos*

My poor chicken Ariel got pecked on her head Sunday night. It appeared that the coop door blew shut and locked her out and she blocked the way so she got picked on :(( I brought her in and patted the injury with hydrogen peroxide and then a wet towel. Then we put neosporin on it. We've been...

    Comb colors

Question: I noticed my sex link had a little bit of purplish/blue on her comb. She's not lethargic at all, is eating well and seems her normal self! Just wondering what's going on and if this is something I should be concerned about. Thank you!

Integrating flock/young chicks sleeping outside of coop

Hey all. So my husband and I finaly moved the 4 - 11 week olds out to the run. Unfortunately one is smaller than the others so the 3 existing hens have been picking on her. So, we built them a play pen inside their inclosed run with a dog crate for a makeshift coop for now. Hoping they'll only...

Introducing new chickens to the flock

Our 4 new chickens are finally at age to go out and hang with the 3 older ladies! My husband and I blocked off an area with wire fencing so they can see each other but not get to one another... Only question is, what do we do with the young girls at night? Bring them in? Put them in the coop and...

Help! Is something wrong with my chick?

Hopefully I'm just paranoid but wanted to check anyways. My chicks are about 6 weeks old and today when I was cleaning out their brooder, I saw that one of the chicks had pooped this picture below. She had pooped a couple of times and one was white-- looking similar to when you crack an egg...

Is this Rhode Island Red a Roo or a Hen?

Hey there! My husband and I are new to chicken raising and we think we got a roo! He/She is a Rhode Island Red and we've been calling her Mr. Georgia because we just aren't sure! We've heard that sometimes Hens can look quite a lot alike the roosters and since we aren't well versed in chickens--...
