Had no intention of getting chicks this year, but my Cochin Banty went sooo brody, what could I do, she want s to be a momma. Down to the farm store, home with 5 chicks. Momma is new at this, but what a gal, doing a great job. Chicks in garage, weather very cold, 18 at night. All thriving...
I have a 9 year old frizzle who has not laid for at least a year or more. She is in retirement. She has always been the best broody mom in the world. My question, because she is not laying anymore, will she ever go broody again?

I have a 20 acre timber farm in Washington. I am widowed, 78 years young take care of this myself. Right now I have 13 laying hens, a mix of Barnavelders, sex links, Red,blue laced wyandotts, Morans, Novogens.
When a hen goes broody and I do not want her to, I put her in a cage...
