I have a broody hen that has been sitting on 4 eggs & so far she has hatched 3 of them but the chicks unfortunately are not able to get out of the nesting box to eat or drink. One chick has already fallen out of the box before but was not able to get back in by itself but I put it back in the...
I have 5 5 week old chicks & 7 7 week old chicks. I've put them together in a space outside(the weather is pretty warm), & they've been pecking each other but I've been raising chickens for 5-6 years & know its pretty normal for the to peck each other, but I've never integrated younger birds...
So my friends chicken has been walking abnormally since December 28th & it will walk a few steps & then sit down. I haven't actually seen it this is just based on the description that they've given me. Does anyone know what could be wrong with this chicken? Here is what she looks like.
So I went outside today with my chicks to try to help integrate them into the flock more & I noticed that one of my rooster's spurs was a lot shorter than the other & looked very red. I can't catch him without another person because he's too skittish so I can't look at it closely so I can't tell...
For the past day I've noticed that when I go down to check on my chicks one of them has always had their eyes closed whenever I see them but they're still alive and though one of the chicks in there bullied one of my other chicks once I haven't seen it doing that to these two. I can't seem to...
I'm hatching eggs and would like one of my hens to raise them. The problem is that there are 14 eggs and even though not all 14 may hatch I'm worried that my hen might not be able to raise them all with no fatalities even though shes a buff orpington and they are supposed to be good mothers.
So today it was really windy and I noticed something strange about one of my hens and that she had a lot of fatherless skin around her vent as well as a number of scabs. I don't know what this is and I only keep her with three other hens so it couldn't be a rooster. They do live upstairs so it...
Some of my chickens have begun to lose a lot of their feathers, which I know is normal because of my rooster but I don't believe the rooster is behind this.
In this picture you can see the baldness that's appearing not at the back but at the front of the neck but it doesn't appear to be red...
Today when I was walking into my chicken pen I spotted one of my chickens splayed out on the ground seemingly dead(spoiler alert she was dead). She hadn't appeared to be injured the previous day and we have bricks lining the bottom of the fencing, the coop was locked, and they have a net over...
I have a 5 or 6 year old rooster who got heatstroke so then we put him in some water and he just sat there. The next day I go in there to move him from the smaller and more insulated coop to the bigger and less insulated coop. As I'm carrying him his face points towards the ground and it's like...
I don't know if this is an injury or not but just in case I would like to see if someone can identify it. She is a hen that is 4 or 5 years old and I have recently noticed that something is wrong with her eyelid.
My chicken is limping and can now only stand on one foot for some reason. She holds her leg up to her body and keep it there all the time. I don't know if she's eating and drinking well but every time I see her she's usually standing on one foot near a wall. Her foot is swelling a little bit but...
