My smooth black bantam Cochin Hen and frizzled black bantam Cochin Rooster results in numerous black chicks with a white dot on their heads. Is it possible that one or both carry the cuckoo gene? How would the cuckoo gene be masked? I thought the cuckoo striping is dominant. Why is there a white...
A blue laced 2-year Bantam Cochin laid 2 fairy eggs before she stopped laying about 4 months ago to molt. Her sister never laid fairy eggs but stopped laying eggs 1 week after. Her sister started laying eggs about 1-month ago. Both regrew their feathers, display red waddles/combs, and sit...
I paired 2 two year old blue laced bantam Cochins (with a smidgen of partridge silkie)with a one year old frizzled blue silkie rooster (along with 3 silkie hens) and 2 one year old bantam Cochins (Cuckoo and Golden Laced) paired with a two year old red partridge Satin rooster (along with 2...
My silkie rooster lost his tail feathers about 1 week ago. Now it seems his sore is growing in size. I thought maybe it might be fly strike, but I don’t see any maggots. I am at a loss as to what is happening. Should I give him ivermectin in case parasites are causing this?
The father is a red smooth satin (partridge cochin/silkie mix) and the mother a blue gray frizzled satin (frizzled blue cochin/blue silkie mix). Would she be considered a blue gray partridge (if such a color exists).
All chicks hatched on 5.8, but I still can’t determine the sex for a frizzled Satin (crossed with a frizzled Satin roo and Cochin hen). The silkie is a male and the cochins are females. What is the frizzled Satin? The little one has a small comb growing, but so do the female Cochins.
Since Tuesday night my dark buff silkie pullet, Spice, has shown very movement, eating, or drinking. I started off with the idea that she might bound with an egg. I checked her with vasoline to find no egg in her vet, but a large quantity of white and yellow fluid came out. I did place her into...
What sex is this Smooth Splash Satin chick? The parents are a blue/black bantam Cochin hen, Peep, and black/silver frizzle Satin roo, Firefly. Peep carries a recessive white gene, resulting in a huge variation in blue, black, and white coloring. I attached photos of the chick and the parents.
