    White-legged white 6 week old

This was sold by McMurray's as a Columbian Wyandotte pullet. So far, is completely white with white legs, and obviously not a rose comb. Also cherry red comb, wattles and ear lobes already-so what kind of rooster did they sell me?

GL Wyandotte chick with extra appendage

This little two week old hatchery chick has what looks like an extra toe extending from it's abdomen, near where the normal right leg is. When I contacted McMurray Hatchery, they say it should not have been shipped, and credited the purchase price, but gave no advice on what to do with her. My...

Do I have another EE pullet, or something else?

This pretty 3 day old pullet came without an identity. She has a bit of a muff maybe, but the stripe on her back is not outlined with double stripes like other EE's I've had. Please chime in your educated guesses as to what breed she might be! Thanks in advance, friends.

    Lavender Amercaunas-Gender Help!

Who wants to take a guess as to gender of my two 15 week old Lavender Amercaunas? The top photo is Chicken #1, and the next two are Chicken #2. I'm hoping that #1 at least may be a pullet, but feel pretty confident that #2 is a rooster (sadly for me, as roosters must go). Hackle feathers are...

Hen bullies another, keeps her from laying

My problem is with Marge in Charge (PBR), who keeps chasing/pecking at/following/harassing my other hen whenever she's trying to lay. Patty (Barnvelder, a bit of a loner) doesn't use the nesting box anymore, because Marge won't let her. We made another double-hole outdoor nesting box for them...

    Chumpkins? Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the newest members of our flock! Eventually destined to be consumed by other members, in a fierce display of cannibalism.

    Hens not eating their feed

I've been feeding my hens the same brand of organic layer feed for two years. The last week, they've not been eating much of it at all. I store it in a galvanized can, and it is not moldy or smelly at all. It is not a new bag of feed. They free-range the backyard, and there isn't much fresh to...

Has anyone seen this image before?

This is a print I bought at a sale years ago for a few dollars, long before I was raising chickens. To me, it appears the woman is selling some eggs and birds to the priests. I just love the expressiveness of their faces. I would like to know more about this image, so if anyone else has this...
