As long as it works for you that's all that matters , my set up works perfectly and I just leave the base there year round. I just unplug it during spring - fall....
Yeah that wouldn't work for me in the winter obviously , what I use works perfect and I never had any problems plus with the heated base the water never freezes....
PS the cap just screws on a false threaded nub at the top which basically just keeps it from getting lost when you're not filling it , sorry I couldn't show you the other side. If you have a tractor supply near you check it out....
No it actually has a cap that's threaded towards the top of the waterer and you just unscrew it and screw it to the spout at the bottom where the water comes out. Once you do that just unscrew the lid and fill it up , it's also convenient with the built-in handle to carry it. I have a hose...
These used to be under $30 when I got mine almost 10 years ago , I think they were around $25 , I bought a couple and they work excellent. There's an O ring under the lid and it keeps it sealed tight. Plus you can find the rings at Lowe's or Depot if it gets worn out. But I had mine for years...
I bought one of those metal heater bases they sell on Amazon , it works great and I've had it for years. It turns on automatically when the temp goes below 32°. I bought a plastic 5 gallon waterer from tractor supply and it fits perfectly on the base , you don't have to turn it over. You just...
I don't know if it works on rats haha, and that is there snacks I put it in I give them twice a day but on occasion I will put it in there regular feed. Also you can try putting apple cider vinegar in there water, the natural one that says "with the mothers in it" on the bottle is the one that is...
I use several scoops because I mix large quantity's of bird seed, unsalted peanuts, raisins and rolled oats in 5 gallon buckets so I like to put about 2-3 cups at least so everything gets coated with the powered pepper, but I've also given them fresh hot peppers chopped up from my garden in summer.
Hi I mixed it with water I don't remember exact amount but it tells you on the bottle. I sprayed it on them lightly on there entire body except the head then lifted there wings and sprayed that area, some of the spots around neck and shoulders I worked in with my hands. But too be honest only did...
I have fed cut up chilli pepper's and other hot peppers and seeds I've also used ceyyene pepper sauce poured over there food, there is a lot of antioxidants in hot peppers which are very good for both chicken and human immune systems also it makes the host body of the chicken very inhospitable...
I can only speak from my experience and it worked for me,like I said I have a lot of chickens and sell eggs so I will not take a chance on putting anything toxic in them or have too throw out 5dzn eggs to wait for a withdrawl period unfortunately, the majority of people on here probably have an...
Here's what I did and it worked for me I haven't had mites in a year, first I cleaned the coop sprayed a mix of pure orange oil and water in the nest boxes and on the Roost's then sprayed the chickens and roosters with permethrin under wings on neck, legs and vent area. Then what I did and do...
After reading through these posts I have to agree with the majority,I feel the more you cottle your chickens the lower there resistance will be too everyday weather conditions.I know people get nervous especially the newer chicken keepers on here, but chickens are very hardy despite what some...
