So, turns out I accidentally got a Harlequin quail out of a group of Button eggs I ordered - and I love him so much I want more. Looking for about dozen eggs to try and hatch him out a girlfriend.
Please let me know if you have any leads.
Thank you!
Will they interbreed with Buttons? Right now he's in my Button Coop because that's where's been, but I am leaning heavily to trying to get a few more eggs and try to hatch a girlfriend for him. If I can find eggs at a reasonable price >.> I'd have to get a new coop or quail pen... so off to...
Thanks guys!! I just went and checked and the Breeder I got my first batch of quail from does indeed raise Harelquins as well. Must have been a rouge egg that slipped in :D
I really like him, and he's super chill for a quail
So I've began breeding Button Quail in the past several months, so I'm still learning all the different color phases and such. But I'm fairly certain I have an anomaly.
This guy I original banded as a female, because of the brown coloration. However, several weeks later when I was inspecting...
So, I have a small flock of about 11 hens in my backyard. They have about half the yard fenced off for their run, and then the rest of the yard is what I call the "main yard" which is just our typical backyard. One of my oldest (and favorite!) hens is an Old English Game Bantam (named...
Absolutely stunning Heritage Dominique Rooster for sale. He was hatched by yours truly and isn't aggressive towards people at all. He's one of the most beautiful roos I've ever seen; I'm only selling him because I can't have roosters were I am.
I will not ship, but I will meet you in North...

My incubator gave me a much better hatch than I expected!
Now I have more chicks than my little yard can handle.
I'm offering 4, well started 4-week old chicks (Straight Run) for only $10. You get at least 1 pure-breed Heritage Dominique (they look like Barred Rocks, but have a rose comb)...
No new pips, but after about 24 hours the chick is out of her shell and looks as healthy as I've ever seen. Good strong lungs - the thing likes to CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP but she's SOOOO cute.
I have over 24 eggs in my bator, and Lockdown would be Wednesday - but I already have one pip! I haven't even stopped the egg-turner yet!
What should I do? I'm worried she's gonna "set off" the other babies and they won't be fully cooked. But the egg is a breed I'm really looking forward to...
Beautiful, friendly boy needs a new home in the Austin area. He does not crow very loud (for a rooster) due to his size, but its still needs more yard and more gals to woo.
He's free if you come meet me at RR 620 and Parmer Lane area.
He has a BFF hen, a full-blooded black Wyandotte you can...
So I was taking some pictures of my "house" chicken Buttercup, and my wife pointed out this one looks exceptionally like a high school yearbook photo.
I guess I couldn't agree more, though I also think it looks like she's sitting for some kind of fancy portrait or something.
Here are some...
I have a tiny Serama mix cockerel that is ready to have a flock of his own. He is TINY, so he don't crow very loud at all (for a rooster). Would be perfect for someone who wants a man to look over their gals without as much noise as a regular, full-sized Roo. He's one of the smallest roosters...

So, my precious Silkie "Princess" who I thought was a hen has decided to start crowing. Well, so much for that :C Unfortunately I live in a place that doesn't allow roosters.
I'm really bummed because he's by far the sweetest chicken I have, but I don't want to risk pissing off the neighbors...
